Self Assessment - losses carried back and forwards.

Thank you. That is a weight off my mind.

Self Assessment - losses carried back and forwards.

Just got a client yesterday who has handed me their paperwork for 2012-13. They had already said they know about the £100 fine. I had previously applied for Agent authorisation and have now got access to their account online. They will be making a loss this year (2012-13) due to her shop being...

    P45 for employee (Sage) RTI

I can process the employee as a leaver. But when will HMRC be informed of this. I won't be processing another payroll until August so HMRC will not be informed he is leaving until then. The link seems to refer to pre-RTI.

    I can't see it under e-Submissions.

    P45 for employee (Sage) RTI

One of my clients has an employee leaving. Slightly different from other employees as the client is a semi professional football club. A player will receive their final pay for the season in June then won't receive anything until August. Sometimes players will not return the following...

Using parent's van - can they claim any expenses?

The client is a sole trader. The father is probably retired (+) just helping out his daughter. Now if the father were a non-VAT registered sole trader and declaring this "income" he could claim 44 x 45p back. At £15 he isn't profiting - he's just helping someone out. So basically, the £15...

    It is a sole trader.

Using parent's van - can they claim any expenses?

Query on behalf of a bookkeeping client. They do not have their own vehicle and currently they pay their father for the use of his van. The cash and carry is about 22 miles away and currently they pay him £15 which seems a reasonable amount there and back. They are above the VAT threshold...

Sage 50 Payroll - four weekly paid - more than one payment in a period

I'll explain the situation and can you let me know if this is possible..... Employees are paid every four weeks. Two employees have arrived after the four weekly cycle (last Saturday) and will be paid this Saturday. Thereafter they will be paid on the same date as everyone else. Is this...

is VAT going to kill my business?

This is the problem with such a high threshold. Bring the threshold down to £10,000 like other countries.

How long does it take to validate a Full Payment Submission?

I sent an FPS on Monday 8th April (around 11:30am). I've tried to send an NVR but can't because the FPS hasn't been validated yet. Here's the error I get from Sage 50 Payroll : "This submission cannot be accepted as a Full Payment Submission has not been received and successfully validated...

RTI is here! How is it for you?

This is what's annoying me. I had taken over doing the payroll for an organisation with 25 employees which didn't need an EAS. But I can't do a FPS for their wages on Saturday in Sage until the (not required by HMRC) EAS is done. And as Sage can't get through they appear to not be letting anyone...

    37p on Cigs!!

Was there any change to the VAT threshold? It usually changes in April after a change in the budget. I heard £77,000 being mentioned in relation to cash accounting simplification of self assessment returns - maybe the same figure being used. They use the VAT threshold figure as the one at which...
