OK I have now calculated Net Profit. Turnover - Cost Sales - Overheads - AIA.
I have fallen below the NIC4 threshold (that's not affected my employed income that's right - it's purely on the profits of my business) however I hadn't claimed in advance the small earning exemption so I believe I...
Great thanks. I can't be bothered with the last minute faff of trying to calculate my expenses.
I take it this cover only the aesthetics/upkeep/repair of the room and the heating/lighting etc. It doesn't cover the costs of the equipment or services in use in the room such as broadband...
I remember reading somewhere that there is a flat rate available for the use of a room in your house for business purposes (not solely for that purpose) which was £3 a week from memory however I'm not sure what you call it and so can't find a reference for it on HMRC.
Did this ever exist and...
John,
That simple really. I thought it would be hard :D
Monthly totals it will be and I presume if I do that through Sage itself I will not have to worry about the sales invoices (for the total amount) not being allocated against the payment.

OK so let's restate the scenario.
I sell goods valued at £100 plus £5 Postage to...
The Monthly Ebay Seller Fees that comes through on the paypal history download does that include both listing and final sale fees?
I can't see any other fees (other than paypal) listed so looks like it.
As regards the entry in Sage 50 If I sell stock through Ebay £100, £10 Ebay Fess, £10...
OK was doing a bit of searching to see if I could find anything about 31 January deadlines and couldn't other than the 3 month rule for registered for Class 2 National Insurance had such a rule and that now much be registered for before 31 January of the year following the tax year end.
So...
Thanks David. That's frustrating as it was HMRC that told me that when I rang them last year to confirm with them as I was getting conflicting info.
I even confirmed it by saying that so long as I registered and paid before 31 January 2012 no penalties would be due to which given a flat yes...
