    Better to get to the root of the problem than to stick a plaster on it. Are they looking at the right .htaccess file? Might be one in the subdirectory. The redirect might have been implemented via a server config file.

    Have to disagree here. I wouldn't hire an SEO or expect to be hired by a client if I didn't have the necessary coding skills to implement the required fixes etc. myself. How would you be able to test if the fixes were implemented correctly without the necessary coding knowledge?

    Yes, but be aware they include the rel="nofollow" attribute (which is a good thing imo). No link value will be passed directly from Pinterest to your site. Pinterest is pretty good for referral traffic, if you know how to use it.
