I've been saying for two or three years now that the opportunities for businesses to have a press release published in their local newspaper has never been greater.
And here's the proof.

Thanks to Sandra and Cyndy for your replies, which confirmed my own thinking. Nothing has happened as yet but the signals I'm getting suggest it may soon. Better to be prepared in advance!
A quick question. If someone has worked as a casual employee, doing the same number of weekly hours for the same amount of payment, for more than five years, can the company legally then reduce the number of hours/shifts without the agreement of the employee?
Hi technician27,
Interesting to see that you want someone to write for readers rather than search engines. It's good thinking. After all, you can have the best SEO copy in the world – which will no doubt bring people to your website – but if the content is boring, they won't stick around. Like...
My original question in this thread was really to gauge what people have done in practice, rather than what they should do in theory. But it's generated an interesting discussion.
Some valid points by both ethicalpr and Christopher but wouldn't necessarily agree that there's little point in...
Thanks for the advice...
I have done, and still do, a fair bit of networking and, while it does pay off sometimes, not as much as I would hope. It's also a long-term commitment because it takes time to build that key element of trust.

Hi all
We publish a hotel and catering trade magazine in the north west. We started it earlier this year in conjunction with another company, who were responsible for selling the advertising.

Okieman, be interested to hear if you try Scott's 20-second tip and if it makes a difference to responses.
We're trying to develop a new marketing product for local businesses and cold calling is tough, especially if you're not a natural salesman! I can relate to that skepticism you get from...
Hi all
Looking for some print quotes for five leaflets x 2000 in full colour on 250gsm silk art.
First leaflet would be DL size and each subsequent leaflet 10 mm shorter, so that when held in a wallet/folder, the end of each leaflet can be easily identified.
If possible also need a price...
Hi there
If there's anyone in the Lancashire area who networks and doesn't already know about it, Wyre Council runs a very good networking event called Wyred Up. The next event is tomorrow at Rossall School, near Fleetwood, at 3pm.

Hi Jack
I would suggest the easiest route for you would simply be to have a look at your local newspapers and find out if they have a business writer or business editor. If so, give the paper a ring and ask for them (alternatively just ask for the newsdesk).
Tell them all about yourself and...
