A strange one that I can't find an answer for.
If a company was to win a legal dispute and get paid a sum of money (like a settlement figure following mediation, or a court award) as compensation, would that income be classed as profit and be subject to Corporation Tax or would there be some...
I have a strange one which I'm not sure about how to approach. We pay 'half pay' for staff that are off with Covid either isolating or having contracted the virus. We used to pay full pay, but have recently dropped this back to half pay as we are having to get relief staff to cover and we just...
A question if I may - when you do payroll for staff (we use Xero) who decides the actual amount of PAYE that should be deducted? We obviously have their NI numbers and all other details, but I'm trying to figure out who is actually responsible if their tax is not correct on the payslips.

One of those - 'should I be worried' questions...
I've just had my VAT Certificate of Registration arrive and under the trade classification it states 88910 which is not the same one we used when we set the business up which is 88100.
The two are both relating to care (which is what we do)...

I got a HR Lawyer to help initially with...
Lloyds exceeded my expectations - I filled out the questionnaire/form yesterday lunchtime and the money was in the account this morning.
Whole process took about 5 minutes. No extra questions, no messing, just done.
Makes a change for something to go well! Well done Government, well done Lloyds.
Mean? I provide free tea and coffee at all our hubs for staff and it's not cheap coffee either. I pay well above minimum wage (and for a care company that's pretty much unheard of around here). I only have 3 zero hour contracts out of 30 workers and all the rest are contracted, guaranteed hours...
We have a company with circa 25 staff and have a mix of building based and community (out and about) based workplaces. When staff are in a building they have access to tea and coffee, free, which we have always provided. We have multiple clients (we support people with LD and mental health) who...
