Is there any reason why you need to have an office on the high street?
If most of your marketing is either online or in local publications maybe you'd be better working from home and spending less until you get yourself off the ground. I started my business when I was 18, albeit a different...
Carrying out my work in the moving industry I have seen a few sights in my time.
I think the best one so far was when we arrived at a collection address to have the door opened by the customer and were then expected to wade through a knee deep pile of old magazines, carrier bags, soft drink...
Calm yourself down.
I agree that subject headings should use the heading tags from 1 through to 6.
However, if I wanted a subheading within those sections I would use a css class to style the text to how I would like it (slightly bigger, slightly bolder, maybe a different colour to the main...
If I were you I would give this customer a final price and let them consider it. If they don't take you up on it don't worry about it too much. From my experience, customers who haggle too much generally end up costing you more anyway (either in time, money or even stress levels) and aren't...
I feel really bad for you Richard.
As most have said, it is probably legal for him to note that he is providing a link not the phone in the smallprint but it really is out of order.
How people can do things like that with an apparently clear concious is beyond me!
I've never advertised with Yell, whose prices made my eyes water. Thomson are a different story though, their rates are a lot lower but they're not as popular a directory.
I'm very much of the generation of people who use the web when I am looking to buy but I do appreciate that there are...
Only use an h1 tag once. If you need more headings on the page, work your way though h2 - h6.
Personally, I would only use each tag once on a page. If you want to have multiple sub-headings etc then I would recommend using a simple CSS class to style the text larger and bolder if you so wish.

I wasn't aware that so many people didn't know that 0800 numbers are free of charge to call. There's never really been a doubt in my head about that.
I have a few different numbers for various websites that I run. I use Flextel, their prices seem fair enough and the numbers are cheap so long as...
When I started my first ever job I worked my way up to a trusted position which let me view the accounts of the business I was working for.
When I compared the profit that the business made to the wage I was being paid (i.e - minimum wage) that was when I decided to work for myself.
Not looked...
That is utterly brilliant!
I'm getting especially fed up with the automated PPI claim calls, usually get them daily, if not twice daily.
Don't know whether this will interest anyone but Homeserve have just been fined £750k for making silent calls. Will this stop them? Probably not...
When I first started up one of my companies about four years back we used to get a lot of calls from the Yellow Pages, Thomson, BT Phonebook etc trying to sell us premium advertising in the paper directories for anywhere between £500 - £3000 per annum. We never took them up on it.
Over the last...
It seems like everybody used 1&1 for their first website but learned quickly that they aren't very good. I would also add myself to that list.
Right now I am using a company called Stablehost which has both US and European servers available. They're pretty good value and any time I have had a...
Your situation sounds a bit more complicated but I had to de-register a company last year.
The paperwork was all fairly simple and all they wanted was a final quarter return from me. After that they sent me a certificate of de-reg.
They're probably becoming more and more used to businesses...
I think one of the main problems with mybuilder and the hundreds of other 'comparison' websites like it is that the customer isn't aware that they are selling leads to tradespeople.
When the customer gets a phonecall, seemingly out of the blue, they will be annoyed and have had no idea that...
