    Completely! I've tested this many times. It appears Google does have something in its algorithm to detect when domains are pointed to other sites to pass link weighting across. It only works temporarily.

    This is a very general and sweeping statement and you shouldn't be making it. Google is against you BUYING links. That's different to actively marketing your business to get or attract links.

    There is no easy way of doing this, particularly with how the website is currently set up. It's going to take a long time, a lot of effort and a lot of manual input or intervention. But it needs doing, even if it's a year long project!
