I am not at all surprised the site is behaving erratically in the search results.
Internally we would give your site a very low trust score due to over optimisation and other factors.
Your link profile is full of spam and obvious paid links. You had a massive ramp up in links very suddenly...
Completely! I've tested this many times. It appears Google does have something in its algorithm to detect when domains are pointed to other sites to pass link weighting across.
It only works temporarily.
I generate affiliate income every month and have been for the past 15 years. It still works and this year I'm up on last year.
I don't use voucher codes myself.
I think you are correct in that voucher codes don't work like they used to and affiliates using them are making money with very...
Where are you seeing this spam traffic? In analytics? Can you see where it is coming from? And what do you mean by lots? What have you tried so far?
There are different ways you can tackle it depending on the extent of the problem....
But there's a big difference in spamming forums for links to just having a legitimate signature link to your business.

I did the marketing for a music festival and ALL sales were generated through social channels. SEO/PPC was completely pointless.
I have a YouTube channel and when I feature a product or...
There's absolutely no problem these days linking to your site from a forum signature, even more so on a site like this where footer links are nofollowed, which means that they don't count as links that benefit your website.
Even if they were followed, it wouldn't be a problem. Google knows...
No. As long as you 301 redirect the old URLs to the new URLs then you will preserve what you have now, even changing URLs.
However, what you need to focus on too is site structure and crawl paths. Changing those can impact ranking.
To be honest though, you are losing traffic and rankings...
There is no easy way of doing this, particularly with how the website is currently set up.
It's going to take a long time, a lot of effort and a lot of manual input or intervention.
But it needs doing, even if it's a year long project!
