If you want a motivated work force that have a genuine emotional investment in your company you cannot hire them on zero hours contracts. It obliterates motivation and self confidence and leaves your staff feeling downtrodden and unwanted, IMO.
I personally dislike parallax. I feel it's slightly gimmicky. And the point about mobile compatibility is extremely valid. As mobile device usage picks up more and more you don't want to be left with a site that simply doesn't work on mobile.
I think there's definitely a use for them. I mainly use them for networking, it's a nice, professional touch to be able to hand someone your card after you've had a promising discussion about business you could do.
Quickest and easiest way? AdWords by far. You need to know what you're doing (or hire someone that does) but if you do you can make real money fairly easily. Only problem is once you stop it all goes...
Always ask to see a portfolio of previous work that has real, contactable clients associated with it and then ask for them to suggest things they would do for you that are specific to your business, not just general tips that could apply to everyone!
It's amazing what you find in AdWords search queries. I remember one client whose AdWords I used to work on, people were searching for 'husband and wife HGV driving jobs.' I can't image much worse than being locked up with my other half in a cab for hours and hours at a time!
Personally, I wouldn't be too concerned about posting the same content across multiple platforms. If your content is good there shouldn't be any issue with you exposing it to your different audiences. I would say quality far outweighs uniqueness across platforms.
As most people here have stated there's no real way to game the Google review system. I feel they're definitely worth trying to acquire though as they can really help your listing in SERPs stand out from your competitors.
As a small business owner I advertise almost exclusively online using a mixture of SEO and PPC. I do this all myself and have taught myself in my spare time. I see this type of marketing as a real investment in not only the present but also future success of my company. I wouldn't say the same...
