    Image Size ?

What platform are you using: Wordpress? If so install the plugin "Smush" as advised above, it will automatically take the images to a compatible size. If they still come up as too big on GT metrix - Then follow the link from GT and use that resized pic.

    Webmaster Tools - Google sitemaps

Hi Lee - The site is over 6 years old. It used to be an old "web page maker site" and it was just forgotten about - now upgraded to WP. It still ranks no1 for a few of search terms just doesnt seem to want to get updated by the indexing tool as quickly as usual.

No the images are not showing. Does annoy you when you add fresh content and the older recopied a 1000 times images are doing better...!

    Webmaster Tools - Google sitemaps

Seems Google's latest "shake up" has slowed things down quite a bit. The site is all green on GTMetrix and is really well constructed. The pictures are 80% original content - Still taking their time to index them.

    Webmaster Tools - Google sitemaps

Am I doing something wrong?? Have had a site uploaded for over 3 weeks now, yet only 1 page is indexed. I often resubmit it, yet no difference. Should it take this long? Mike

Can I optimise my website own my own?

"With the Yell manager" & "I'm no mug", possibly a contradiction in terms. Oh dear, is that the reason for your earlier opinion of letting someone else take charge of your SEO? Is your website the one on your profile? Did Yell create that? Did you consider any different content? Or was it...

Can I optimise my website own my own?

Talking from experience here, I have managed to rank a website on various search terms for London, in excess of 90 search terms, as top 3 listings on Google, some pages I am the top three links. Not so good on Bing, but I'm working on it. It consistently gets 60 - 70 calls a month, as a small...

    Buying an old...(new) website.

Caught is good, but I think I am after a list of domains about to be released for sale as contracts are not renewed. Used to have a link to a site that offered this. Gone now.

Website blogs, are they useful ?

I would like to show the link to explain what it is & why it helps me with the interaction I get . Alas: I'm not quite sure of the rights to links, when not being a full member and the acceptance of such things on here.

Website blogs, are they useful ?

It's information I'm blogging not sales, but on the flip side, Yes I do get some work from it. I am defined by my local area for work: Travelling to customers. The blog is answered by the U.K. public and the interaction is well worth the 30 mins it took to write.

Website blogs, are they useful ?

No they're not bots - I can tell, I have a stat counter device and shows a lot of detail about all hits. This week that page has 574 views of which 400+ are genuine hits. To some it's small peanuts, to me, it shows my content works. Your right in what you said though, unique content is what...
