    Beautiful Ecommerce Designs

Have you decided on the software you're going to use yet? You can get excellent design examples from the Bluepark or Shopify sites that don't need a great deal of skill to set up and tweak. If you're a bit more tech-minded you could get stuck into Woocommerce - a search for woocommerce themes...

How do you optimize an E-Commerce website?

oj_ux - 80% of TIME goes into content (and UX), 20% into PPC (keyword analysis, product push etc). Then the reverse is true of CASH spend! Its not a "rule" but just what works for us.

    Choosing an ecommerce solution

Nice post. +1 for Woocommerce with WP! Our ecommerce solution journey has been long and hard - from custom software (and a criminally overpaid developer) to hosted solution (Volusion, then very quickly to BluePark!) and now Woocommerce. Bluepark is excellent, but our need for customisation is...

How do you optimize an E-Commerce website?

Lots of good points here! Although I would agree with fisicz that PPC marketing is essential in most cases, it is NOT the only thing you can do. The original question was around optimising an ecommerce website. You've already found a list of broad tasks, but that simple bullet list hides the...

Is multi-channel selling now essential for all online businesses?

We would love to go multi-channel, but simply can't afford the fees applied at our current margins!

B&M Retailer.. Adopting E-Commerce for first time...

Hey Stevie By "no frills" I just mean a 2nd online shop, using a different trading and domain name. So, you build "SteviesTiles.co.uk", and "supercheapkitchentiles.co.uk" (or whatever). SteviesTiles.co.uk is the online version of your service-focussed B&M showroom with the same prices. It...

Competitors use of my product image

Watermarking is a good idea. Also make sure your images contain a copyright message in the EXIF data. EXIF data can be removed easily enough, but the type of person who just steals images to use probably wouldn't bother. See verexif.com

    SEO software

Hi Hammur My standard response to SEO: start simple and get the content and basics right first. We haven't found one tool for everything (that would probably be horribly complicated anyway), so we tend to work from a suite: 1) SEOQuake diagnosis (Firefox addon) 2) ScreamingFrog.co.uk (SEO...

B&M Retailer.. Adopting E-Commerce for first time...

Hey Stevie If you are extending your brand to online, then you (IMHO) should keep your prices identical online and "in store". It just reduces trust and confidence in your brand to have it any other way. Even "web only" offers usually seem to mean "cheap dropshipped version of the good one we...

Which is best to choose - shopify , 1and 1 or ekmpowershop

+1 for Bluepark! Very good for UK businesses. Has most tools builtin already - no need for apps.

better to have a hyphen - in a domain or a alternative domain ?

IMHO: Go for a unique name even if it means adding another word. Get both co.uk and com. Redirect (301) the com to co.uk if uk is to be your core business, other way around if you're aiming international.

    Choosing an ecommerce solution

Having tried Volusion and Shopify, we now use Bluepark and couldn't be happier! They are UK based and support is excellent.
