Dear All
I'm just wondering if small business like myself need to register for the new 'Customs Declarations Service' which replaces 'CHIEF' - apparently!?
Currently, I just import in bulk from foreign countries to the UK but all the paperwork and import charges are taken care of by the...

We are in a similar situation where some but not all items are getting through to Spain. We mainly get advised that the customer has rejected the goods due to very high charges on a low value item and so we wait to see if the items get returned (they don't always). It has got so bad...
Romeo - I also had this and have also registered with LUCID. I found this site that compares as you call secondary companies - verpackungslizenz24.de
Yes you need to pay one of these companies and the one recommended by eBay is on this list and also seems to be the most expensive.
If other...
Yes its easy - just get them to send it via DHL/Fedex etc (they probably have their proffered courier) to your home address and DHL/Fedex will either charge import/handling duties immediately (paid up front) or send you an invoice for import/handling duties after delivery.
If you buy larger...
That's interesting as i am not getting any customers complaining to me and i send approx. 10 to 15 items per day to all over Europe. However I also do it the old fashioned way with a franking machine and CN22 sticker on the back and I add the IOSS stamp to front and back and also 'EU VAT DUTY...
I've had one returned from Belgium BUT I suspect the customer 'refused' it after hearing about the import charges. I am waiting for another to come back from Belgium with apparently incorrect paperwork. I've had items go missing in Italy (but I've always had this!). Everything else is going...

Many thanks, its 1st Jan 2022 lets see what fun and games will happen with importing from EU and exporting to EU over the coming months! I can see headaches coming! I may have to call you at some point!

Anyone have any idea what this is all about in a nutshell! Seems to be more beaurocracy for no good reason?

Yeah the IOSS sticker on CN22 is tiny!
Well that's what I've done and may be coincidence but I'm not getting any complaints of having to pay VAT a second time. I add the IOSS stamp to front and back and also 'EU VAT DUTY PAID' next to the IOSS stamp!
Are you using a IOSS Sticker/Stamp and stamping 'EU VAT DUTY PAID' I have had zero complaints when i started using these. Think about it - when a 'standard' package arrives in the EU postal service, you need to make it easy for the sorting staff to determine which needs to be charged VAT and...
That's nothing - I have a parcel from Pakistan, went to Dubai, then France, then UK and now its on its way to France again - Fedex!
I find having a little patience and the couriers do get it sorted albeit a week or two late! But check the tracking daily. Sounds like the order was sent without...
Totally correct, this is exactly what I've been doing since EU controls came into place. Maybe a small drop off in returning EU customers but nothing to fret about to make me want to register for IOSS!
