Brand is not a ranking factor but brand has been seen to help SEO. So do some brand advertising and you will see some positive results.
As an aside, Domain Authority means diddly for SERP positions - it's a measure created by, I think it was, Moz.

You can also spend a bit and get a bespoke theme created for you. However the costs can be fairly high.

Or choose a theme, and get a designer to create some new images. Just replace the theme graphics with the new ones.
Bearing in mind that rankings are different to positioning. Follow the guidelines and your site will be ranked for multiple keywords - anywhere, for instance, from position #1 to #500 depending on the keyword groups targeted.

Your site has multiple issues. Have sent you my analysis of these, which will help you improve your site's quality, targeting and performance. ;)
Also, are you seeing results from the Trump hack in analytics? This is false traffic and skews results.
You also have to be careful in assuming that these links were intentionally sought. I have 16,000+ links to my site courtesy of UK Business Forums getting scraped and my signature here being placed on random sites by hackers - so you disavow. Google ignores these also.
Get some audits and proposals from a variety of providers before throwing money at a project. Look into getting a service contract and pay monthly. ;)
Ask them if they know the work will improve things. If they get sketchy, run!
