    File exchange and/or Turbo lister (but both are very outdated now). You'll still have to map your product identifiers to child SKUs (product-labels). eBay still lags behind with this kind off stuff.

    I've just checked this on a clients upload and we have the following permissions set media/ 755 media/import 777 I would strongly advise going back to them with regards to your media/import permission and get this set to 777 as this should eradicate the problem (or at best rule this out).
