    I need to start from scratch . . .

30yrs ago I considered myself VERY computer literate but you take your eyes off the ball for a few years & everythings gotten so much more complex . . . . What's involved in creating a search function on a website where you can select a value from a drop down box several times before the...

    A coaching tip

I wouldn't touch any "so called" business guru who markets their own services while pretending to be the 3rd person.

How to handle eBay scammers alleging missing items?

You handle the situation by dealing with the INAD case as per ebay proceedures. You can either issue a full refund now or issue a returns postage label so that your buyer can return the items they have received, you then issue a full refund once the items are returned to you. If this buyer is...

How do we make SME owners care about cybesecurity

Many years ago when ISP's were sending out insecure routers I set a young lad up with a laptop & WiFi antenna. He'd get his mum to drive him around housing estates & every 'open' WiFi he detected he'd drop a note through their doors explaining that their WiFi router was unprotected &...

    Pet Treat sales

If I had my time again I'd start up a raw / natural pet food & treats store. The one I use is positively booming. The owner started the business by selling boxes of assorted natural treats on facebook & having seen that was successful she took out a small loan to fit out an off high st shop...

    Is my business idea viable?

In my village there's a couple of lads who will take a group out Sunday am on a wild forageing, hunting & campfire cooking trip. Very popular & there's often 15-20 of 'em stomping through the woods, but how you could monetise something like that I have no idea.

    Star up Loan

You are not going to qualify for a "business developement" loan from any respectable source unless you can satisfy the requirements of the patron saint of finance . . . . The patron saint of finance is St,Atus. Unless you have sufficient assets to cover any default in repayments, then you have...

Starting a Fishing Tackle Company - finding manufactures/suppliers?

Because competition is intense, the market is saturated & there are very low barriers to entry.

Starting a Fishing Tackle Company - finding manufactures/suppliers?

It is a very large pie (£1.5 BILLION) & even the smallest slice of it could become a good business. I've just done a brief financial research on Angling Direct PLC & it looks like retail sales are up while eccomerce is down ! I'm gobsmacked that they enjoy a gross margin as high as 25-26 %.

    Opportunity but feel awkward

There are some area's of business where any competition that raises it's head gets it's legs broken . . . . . Go for it. If you don't then someone else will.

    Rough Guesstimate

I buy a type of product that the range of manufacturers make incredibly difficult to select from what should be a simple choice of material, size & quantity. It is often easier to purchase through their re-sellers at inflated prices. Roughly how much would a website & database cost to initially...

People who've experienced business failure: What do you do now differently, to what you did before?

I built my first business into a very profitable commercial painting & decorating Co', employing 60+ contractors. Then, my first wife decided she didn't need me anymore. So I walked away & in my depths of depression took my solicitors advice & gave her 'everything'. Best advice I ever listened...

    business & friends

I neglected my family & friends during most of my career because I thought the material things that bought them were important. I bought my daughter a pony for her 8th birthday, she was 30 when she told me that I was never there to watch her ride it . . . . . & the ex-wife (spits) now has that...

Car parts supplier for online trade

There's an old saying in business circles . . . . "If you want to make £1million in this job, first you need to invest £5million in premises, stock, staff, marketing etc etc etc".
