Ensure your canvas size is 85mm x 55mm, pretty much a standard business card size with a resolution of 300dpi.

Common sizes are A5 (148.5mm x 210mm) and A6 (105mm x 148.5mm).
Weight, as Neil said, is usually the thicker the better, but also if you are considering printing them yourself, what your printer can get away with.
Alternatively, you may consider using a printer such as Neil or ourselves.
