Investment Opportunity for a SEO Expert / Small Company

Hello UKBF Members,

Not so long ago, I set-up an online directory/website for a specific market audience. Apart from targeting a specific market, my website is different to any other directory like yell.com or Thomson local, as it has an array of features that would attract my customers’ customers to the website. The best part of this website is that I have no direct competitors.

I’ve always understood the importance of SEO for this venture and spent a few thousand in order to gain a better internet presence with had limited success. After spending time on research and calling potential customers, all they seem to be interested in is the web position of the actual website and the amount of incoming traffic despite the off-line advertising we do, the features we offer and other in-direct internet advertising methods we use.

OK, so why am I telling you this?

Rather than me investing more money (that I cannot afford) into SEO with no guaranteed results, I’m looking for an experienced SEO specialist to be part of the business and come on board as a director. Their role is to get the rankings/traffic the website requires in return for attractive % of sales (not profit). The percentage is negotiable depending on the amount of involvement they want to have in the business.

Due to the nature of this proposal I believe this would be suitable for an individual or a small company who can spend some of their working spare time (which could be increasingly possible in today’s current financial climate) and use their expertise. A decent SEO company will initially charge me £4K-£10K + annual maintenance for the keywords I believe are required, but if we can get the rankings we need, then the potential returns for the SEO partner could be a lot more in the long-term and they will have own equity in a business, which has the option to expend into other markets.

This is a genuine opportunity and a lot of trust and on-going commitment is required so we would need to meet in person on a fairly regular basis (must be UK Based) and contracts/shares will be exchanged. I realise without the SEO expertise or Investment for SEO (which I’m currently not in a position to provide) then this business venture is not going to succeed.

If you are interested, please PM your contact details and I will call you back to discuss the opportunity in full and the background and set-up of the business, website and previous SEO work done.

I cannot give away anymore information in public so please contact me to discuss further. I will be contacting people I know who are in the SEO business but I would like to open this opportunity to a wider audience in the hope that the right person will come along.

Many Thanks for Reading

Regards

Hi Rick. If your SEO has not paid off then should we assume that your site gets little or no traffic/makes no money? A percentage of nothing is a pretty small amount.

If you'd like to PM me details of your site and your exact offer I'd be very interested in taking a look. I don't feel like chatting away on the phone for hours without looking at what's on the table first... if I like it we can talk for hours and hours if you want to :)

regards
James.

Hi James,

The past SEO work was done by a big company who was not really interested in the results and recommended that I optimised keywords which I later found out did not pull in the required traffic. I still got customers to sign-up but the response would of been greater if I had the right words were optimised

I will send you a PM later today.

Thanks

Rick

Thanks for the private messages. I will reply to everyone today.

Just to give you a quick heads-up on figures; There are 9257 registered X shops in the UK (not inlcuding all internet websites & spin-off products). If we assume that we achieve the necesssary rankings you can guess that roughly 15% would be interested and 2% would sign-up while the brand is unknown (185 sales)

Packages range from £200-£1000 per year, depending on exposure on the front page (Existing front page customer paid £1500). Even if assume everyone signs up to the very basic package of £200 that's still £37K a year with potential of them renewing year after year.

I was thinking of offering 25% of revenue to the SEO person (£9-£10K a year minimum on realistic sales predictions) , I would be doing the selling myself so there is no overheads and a cash rich business, i.e people pay before their advert goes live.

Payments would be made to the SEO person on any terms they want, as long as the business has the funds from the customer first.

What's more is if this venture is successful, the concept can used be used for the bigger markets.

Again, if anyone is interested please PM me

Thanks
