Hi
I have been doing SEO (Successfully) for myself for 12 months now and have achieved several page 1 rankings for fairly competitive keywords.

I am looking at the possibility of starting an internship/apprenticeship for a company but i am not sure about how to proceed,i would even consider unpaid work if it meant proving myself as i am very confident o my ability to rank sites quickly.

I have excellent experience with link building,on page optimisation and keyword research as well as competitor analysis research.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Its because i want to see how a SEO company is run from the bottom upwards so that i can upscale.
I agree with Loofah.

My businesses have always started with what I perceive to be something of value I can offer others. It then evolves according to what clients really want... Actual procedures are almost certainly different from any other SEM company.

I'd be wary of hiring someone like you simply because I want things done my way. I might have to somehow make you unlearn all the bad habits you've acquired... :p

I'd just get on and earn money for yourself. If you're any good, you'll make more money for less time and hassle.

Alternatively, if you're really into pain, then just start networking until you find someone who wants what you're offering and go for it...

I think I know what exactly you mean by getting an internship or job at a larger company, learning the corporate way of dealing with clients and handling with your colleagues is quite useful. If you are based in London here we have all the Group M's sub companies, they all have on-going rolling internship programmes you can apply for. I worked under two of them and definitely recommend you to go experience it

If he/she is looking for an apprenticeship then I'm guessing they are quite young?

It would arguably make sense for them to get a 'real' job with an seo agency for a year or two. Purely from the point of view of seeing how a business actually works, then try and start your own agency later?

Starting an seo agency would be near impossible if you have no real life experience of at least working in a company, never mind running one.

Though I will say this - if you can actually rank sites then you should neither need, or want clients. The only people who need clients are people who can't do seo to a high level :D
