Hi
After having the extension installed, i've been very disappointed with it.
We are experiencing a number of orders marked as paid by magento (and the customers being notified of this) but the payments have actually failed in sagepay.
When we've queried this with sagepay they have told us our site doesn't always return the final url required to complete the transaction - when we queried this with ebizmarts they said they recommend we do check every transaction which is a hideous answer.

Sagepay said its a common fault of magento.

What i'm trying to understand is whether others have found a way to combat this.

It seems crazy that an approved extension doesn't do what it says on the tin!

We use this extension and haven't experienced this problem. We find the ebizmarts extension works really well for us.

Are there any clues in your logs?

We have the paid for Server version and although the support from ebiz has been great - we were told directly that this can happen and we should check the VPSTxId of every transaction.

Sagepay have said they get a lot of calls from magento clients who are frustrated as they have assumed their payments are good and have sent out the order only to find they never received a successful payment.

I'm hugely disappointed as i believed this would give me seamless and secure integration. I find it lamentable that sagepay "approve" this extension.

Our developers have not worked with this extension before, can anyone recommend a developer who has experience with this?

Change the method of processing to deferred. This just authorises payments and does not take them. Then on each order within Magento, take a look and release the money (done within Magento) this then takes the money from the customer. It would not work if the VPSTxId was wrong so this would effectively check the transaction.

I have never had this problem. I have stopped using SagePay, but not for this reason.

I'd been told that once switched on it makes it really slow for the development team.

I am sure the dev team told you this. What are you thinking of? You should not let the tail wag the dog. The LIVE site should be cached and the dev team should be NOT TOUCHING IT. If it is very minor error fixes then the slight trouble they will have in needing to refresh the cache should not mean that you switch cache off just to make their lives a bit easier.

Who is most important here, the customer or the dev team?

    Totally agree with the above

The dev team should be working on their own copy of your site that can run without caching.

Your live site absolutey needs caching to be enabled. Magento is simply not designed to run without caching.

Think of it as driving your car only using the starter motor. Its there and you could put it in gear and continuously twist the ignition but its not really right is it?

The starter is only designed to get the engine turning and after that the main engine (caching) should be used for the level of performance that you should expect.

Are you using the Sagepay pro version if not, here is a little tip:

    Go to this URL: http://www.sagepay.com/contact_us/magento-upgrade

Request an upgrade, for the past few months it has been free so worth a try still.

Then once its installed and you have your licence key, you can get support direct from Ebizmarts, Pablo the support guy is very good but will only support the Pro version.

We have seen many issues with Sagepay over the last few months and have a number of fixes we have applied but if you can get onto the pro version you should have no problem in getting free support from Ebizmarts or drop me an email and I will take a look for you if your other developers allow it, I am very surprised though to hear a developer has not installed Sagepay before, we have installed this extension over 20 times in the past 3 months it is extremely common.

We are using the pro version and pablo has been working with us to try and get this to work properly. He recently upgraded the module - but this didn't help. I know he's working on another solution. To compound the issue we also have orphan transactions which have been paid for successfully.

I think edmondscommerce is right about that it could be to do with the server having an excessive load.

The hosting company say that there is a cron job that is running on too short a time cycle, there have also been problems with excessive sized log files, the latest one that caused an issue was 435G and took the website down!!! Something is far from right.

So far i'm loving my new, expensive site:-(

Wish I’d never left my original platform.

Turns out a couple of things have caused an issue:

    1. mage log was enabled and the files were getting up to 15+GB, i've disabled this now and the website is running better.
    2. The Cron job for abandoned cart emails is set to run every 5 mins - the host tell us to change the setup the developer tell us to buy more memory... happy days

Have you had any real response from the abandoned cart emails? Is it really worth doing? Why every 5 minutes anyway? A 5 min nag may put people off more than anything.
