I currently use Magento but never used M2e. In the past I have created feeds from Ebay to websites whilst filtering products. It worked fine but is a little fiddly - just an idea if you get stumped.

Could you elaborate a bit more in what you mean? how did you create feed to ebay and what do you mena by filtering products? thanks

No sorry - I created a feed to show ebay products on a non-ebay site not the other way round. It was done using RSS. Did I misunderstand you?

yeah i think we have misunderstood each other.. need to feed products (lots of them) from magento into ebay. currently doing them manually, but its coudl do with a automated process, and as the 2 programs both cost around USD200 i wanna make sure before i go spending! thanks anyway thou. :)

I like the idea to I put my feet in and bought m2e

it works well to a certain extent

I'm gritting my teeth and holding on for updates

postage

  • the calculated postage works on imperial weights so you have to add attributes for imperial measures to your magento listings if your using Grms or Kg's - I couldn't get it to work
  • normal ebay postage is dodgy as it can result in high postage costs and therefore effect your ebay ratings, you can only specify one postage rate and the rate for a secondary item is echo'd from the first rate - fine for high value items where you may not sell more than one but when your selling a lot of small items in multiples the postage rate is going to be sky high if the customer does not ask for the rate to be reviewed
I have not used it yet any more than sussing the above out I will try it on things that sell singularly

Having used M2E for the best part of the year, i can tell you now it is a buggy bit of software. Version updates have always crashed my M2e, rendering it useless, and making the update process rather tiresome and frustrating.

HOWEVER..

What it does do (when it works) it does efficently. Whilst i have been critical of M2E in the past, i think they have improved their customer service and if you email them they DO generally get back to you and offer to help. That would be your best bet to getting your P&P working.

running 2.0.13.r877

the sandbox is in settings>ebay accounts
theres a dropdown for the environment when you create a account either production or sandbox

hmmm i remember there used to b that option, but for some reason my options under settings are ebay accounts, syncro, log cleaning, license.

no other options!

im holding bk updating as my current version is working fine and i have no desire to upset that!

its in ebay accounts you put the account name and select the environment, click the button to retrieve the token...if you can log in that is

i think the sandbox option doesnt really work - i remember something about having to go straight into production mode.

but yes- ive just tried and i cant log on after i click get token in sandbox mode.

Hi

We are looking at m2e. Heard that it is a bit buggy but does more than any other plugin out there. More than the camiloo one too, which only processes order I think. m2e creates the listings and you can edit the listing template too.

i looked into alternatives when i found out m2e was so buggy, but i have to admit that i havent found anything else which does the job like m2e, even with all the bugs

Hi, you can try demo of GoMage FeedPro extension allowing you to upload information about products from your online store to search engines like Google Base, Yahoo! Store, eBay and more other sites that collect and show information about your products.

More features and demo find here: http://www.gomage.com/extensions/feed-pro.html

So is it buggy and moving forwards and becoming less buggy or buggy and moving forwards but with more bugs becoming introduced in the process ?

Does it handle variants at all ?

(When I was looking a year ago I could find nothing either for listing on ebay that seemed to work well and not crash etc - seems bizarre to me you would have thought that ebay would put a lot of money into having a good listing tool to encourage and develop selling on ebay)

i would say its "buggy moving forwards becoming less buggy". once its setup it tends to run fine. its only buggy mow during inital setup and between upgrading versions.

do you mean variants as in a configurable product with selectable options (ie size) if so, yes it does.

hope that helps :)

Could you give me a few examples of the buggyness - just a loose sentence or two to give me that feel

Thanks in advance

It was my project for next year and now I am having my doubts
TL crashes all the time
I cannot stand the thought of listing through the ebay screens

hhmm.. i think you will find that each shop will have its own experience of quirky bugs..

previous to the version im using, when trying to select items to list, the "search" function was unable to browse between pages of my product catalogue, which meant i could only list items on that particluar page. if i wanted to list products on page 2, i would have to create a eperate listing. the admin was genereally unresponsive.

Thing was, the version i was using BEFORE that was working fine, but it would appear they just released a duff version?!

i emailed them for help, and to be fair they did get back to me, and suggested i install their latest version, (they released a version in a span of a month, my moneys on the fact they realised there was a problem)

so my current version works fine, thou everyso often the sync between shop and ebay stops and i have to go into ftp and delete a file to get things back started. i did ask them about this, they said "install our newest version"...

im much happier using my current version which works 99% than upgrading to a verison which may be aa repeat performance of last time!

like i said, the software is buggy but moving forward being less buggy.

u have pm

Accidentally found this topic and think i should leave some comments. At least this is our module and we have also some experience to share:)

As one of our customer said: "All good things need time to develop". If you magento user for several years - you may remember how much bugs it has in the previous version - 1.2, 1.3,.. and upgrading of magento site to the newer version was a challenge.

But within time- within versions, most of bugs were fixed, the upgrade become easy(but still problematic in some cases).

The same with our software, we just on our start, we need time.

Let's answer some questions to find if this extension bad?

Some people mentioned that M2E Pro is buggy. Is it true?

Yes and No.
Each person has its own comprehension of the term - buggy. For one person - buggy software means that almost all features are not working properly. For other person buggy means, that just some button or link doesn't work.

You can consider magento as buggy software, OS windows as buggy software, etc because there also some bugs appears from time to time.

But the most important not the fact of the bugs, but the fact were they fixed!

Is M2E Pro really buggy?

Yes it is. It is buggy as any other software. Probably if we develop some extension like product slider, there was much less bugs. But for extension which integrates 2 complex platforms, it is obvious that not all bugs may be found/detected easy. Especially, that each magento store and products to list on eBay is unique. And the feature that works , let's say, on 95% of sites may fail on 5% of sites because of the specific products/settings, etc.

Is there no support?
No, there is FREE support. All requests sent from extension contact form go to the ticket system and responded by support. Normally, within 2-3 hours. In some cases, it may take longer.

Are the bugs ignored by developers ?
No, the reported bugs are fixed either ASAP if it is serious bug or within time if the minor bug.

Have the customers purchase updates/new versions ?
No, currently, all updates with fixes, new features are provided for FREE.
All the new version for the last 10 months were free.

Next version - 2.0.14 with Feedbacks, Combined Orders, Best Offer, etc will be released in beginning of January 2011.

Is there any problem with upgrades to the new version?

Yes, some of our customers had problems in the past. But if they contacted us, we help to solve them their problems. So no one from our customer can say that he was left alone with his problem.

Are the developers happy that after upgrade to the new version module had some issues?
No, it is not normal, but remember, each magento site is unique, so there was and will be some problems with upgrade. And we do our best to have upgrade successful for 100% of sites. Because the upgrade problem costs us time - instead of concentrating on implementation of new features for M2E Pro, developers spend their time on support.

We still working on our extension. And we believe that we implemented just 20-25% of the possible functionality. So there is years for development ahead.

Thanks for that really handy to have your input

I wish it had a monthly revenue model rather than a straight purchase - but maybe this is not possible with Magento add ons

This would allow me to try it for a short time and see what I think

It would ensure that you had an ongoing income stream from current users - which means it is in your interests to keep them on board and reward them with regular updates and improvements

It would allow you to plan better

Currently, we are also working on the version of M2E Pro for Large Merchants (who list more than more than 3000-5000 products on eBay). We have almost rewritten our current extension and around 90-95% code is new. This version allows us to have great performance for huge amount of data and also has flexible architecture. We plan to sell this version based on monthly subscription.

if your really planning on charging people monthly this version will need to be well tested.
