Hi

Can anyone recommend the best way to move all the programs from my old desktop PC to my new one?

Most of the programs are downloaded, rather than installed via disk.

I was looking at Laplink's PCmover, which you can download, or perhaps using the Windows transfer program.

Thanks in advance

Thanks for those responses. I hadn't come across Acronis Migrate Easy, so I may well look at using that (especially as it has a free trial!), if I can easily install my old HDD in my new PC.

I'm surprised this doesn't come up more often, particularly with things like iTunes.

In principle Laplink's PCmover sounds great, but I haven't read a good review of it.

When I'm doing this, I just use a portable hard-drive.

I've got an 80Gb one from Freecom (I think) which does the job nicely. Of course, it does depend on what you're wanting to transfer, but if that's too much then a direct network connection (wired rather than wireless, for improved speed) works too.
