We’re halfway through the year, which means many of us are checking-in on our 2022 business goals. Ask yourself these three questions to see if you’re on track.
Goals are an essential part of running a successful business. Goals help business owners prioritise resources, including their own time, to ensure growth and prosperity.
If you want to learn more about how to set goals, check out our guide Nine tested techniques to help you set business goals that work. There are many discussion threads on UKBF about goal setting, too.
In this guide, we look at how to track your goals midway through the year. Ultimately, it boils down to asking yourself these three simple questions.
We have seen dramatic changes in the global, political and economic landscape so far in 2022. It’s unlikely that you predicted war in Europe or inflation to be so high. Is your goal still relevant, given the current climate? A lot has changed in the last six months, so check if your goals need to better reflect this.
Maybe you’ve already surpassed your goal. Perhaps you’re three quarters of the way there at the half-year point. If so, think about setting a higher target for your end-of-year goal.
On the other hand, perhaps you’re a long way off hitting your goal. This doesn’t have to be the end of the world. Maybe you had unrealistic expectations of what was possible or unexpected events have thrown you off-course. In this case, don’t burn yourself out trying to achieve the impossible. Think about changing your target to something achievable.
Perhaps it’s dedicating more time, or a specific time slot every day, to help reach your goal. Maybe you need to invest money in staff or new equipment. Maybe you need to keep doing exactly what you’re doing. Or perhaps you need a new goal all together.
Whatever you decide, write down your plan for the next six months, including actionable steps that will help you reach your goals.

3. What do I need to do next?
