That's what we're trying to now find but as you can probably imagine it's quite a different step for a small business like us where we're now having to figure out what was once just a "here's a box of stuff, get fedex to deliver it to us" to potentially needing to find and pay for an agent to...
Hi all,
We import Japanese kitchen knives to the UK and recently we've had DHL and now FedEx say they're no longer allowing the import of knives into the UK. I fear that UPS will follow suit soon and Japan Post already don't permit the shipping of knives so we're finding it extremely difficult...
Sorry, for clarity our total shipments are around 100kg a month not a single shipment so it's very small scale but I'm going to have to try and find an agent and see what's possible
nothing out of the ordinary, we even had a shipment from another supplier with FedEx last week - same items/HS codes etc.
I can't tell if it's something they're just starting to flag in shipments or what and some will still get through or if they're banning certain HS codes now.
One guy I...
makes sense on a major retailer level, sadly we're very small scale talking about probably 10 boxes / 100kg of stuff a month by air so will investigate as an option and hope for the best
As far as I can establish, this is another one like DHL where it's not a legislation change or requirement but an internal decision - just wondering if anyone who deals direct with FedEx can confirm?
I just had a message from a supplier in Japan that FedEx returned one of our shipments (Japanese chef knives) and that FedEx told them that effective July they are stopping the import and export of all knives through Europe.
It's not something I was aware of and best I can tell there's no...
Thanks Mark,
Ideally looking for a 5 year term with early payback option if possible and in terms of rates etc I'm looking to get some options really. I spoke to befund.org yesterday and their deal worked out at £150k to borrow £100 which felt rather steep tbh.
I'd hope our accounts will...
Hi,
I'm looking to try and take out a £100k (apx) business loan as we've had some recent opportunities to expand our inventory through new suppliers who we've spent a long time trying to open a business relationship with who have now offered us far more than we can afford to buy out of our own...
Yep, this is from our account manager. Seems like it's a DHL wide decision B2B/C. I'm not hugely bothered if it's just DHL as we'll just switch to someone else but if it's legislative change that does obviously make a difference.
Not yet, DHL account manager dropped it on me as I was leaving the office so they're my next port of call tomorrow.
Spoke to hmrc and they're not aware of any legislation updates matching this description but said I should also speak to home office to see what they say too.
I just had a rather upsetting call from our DHL account manager who kindly informed us that effective March 1st, any bladed item over 8" / 20.3cm will not be permitted to ship with DHL - either import or export.
Given we import and sell Japanese chef knives, this is a rather troubling...
