    Forex Trading

It's not something I know a great deal about but a friend of mine talks about it a lot and thinks it's great. He says that it takes a while until you get to make any money but it's worth persevering. He used to get up early and check it first thing in the morning before going to work and he did...

The happy people seem to live in socialist countries.

This list seems a little dated to me. Sweden, for example, might have been like that in the 80s but it's certainly not now. It all changed in the 90s and now they have a right wing government and even riots and things like healthcare are getting more and more expensive.

An Apple a day keeps the taxman away

Hmm, not sure how 'funny' the thread is but I think it's only a matter of time before apple lose it. They were all about image and somehow made people want to buy their brand even though they could get exactly the same performance, if not better, from elsewhere.

No more retirement ,you just work till you die.

I think it depends on the actual job. Someone in a physical job might not be able to do their job after a certain age. But I know of plenty of people who retired and then had to find another job anyway, because of lack of money or even boredom. I think the key here is to not put things off until...

    Pebble Smartwatch (or similar) anyone?

They just look pretty clunky to me, but I suppose if you're not bothered about how they look it doesn't matter. I've seen a fossil one that looks ok. I don't know enough about them though, does the screen stay on? Because part of the reason a watch is better than a phone for some things like...

    Text messaging at meals

It's just rude and no, not just teenagers. My dad's 71 and he sits and texts while we're all round there. Maybe he's trying to tell us something... But I don't allow phones at the table at mealtimes, if it's really urgent they'll ring, no rubbish text joke is that important. It's the equivalent...

    oh no, Duncan!

I was going to make a sarcastic remark about this but actually I quite like him. He does a lot for charity.

The decline of the town's commerce

I think people would still shop online with the big retailers, it's sad but true. We've been spoilt with too much choice and people shop in supermarkets now like they used to in local shops on the high street. They shop around and will do a weekly shop in a couple of different supermarkets...

    poisoned by supermarket bottled water!

I only ever drink bottled water abroad. If we go out for the day I'll fill a bottle with tap water and take that. Never really trusted it and often wondered about the plastic.

Childbirth - How men are different to women

There has been another study though recently that showed that men have a higher pain threshold. I'll try to find it..

Working From Home: Can you trust yourself/others?

It does take discipline and it helps to have a separate working area but it also depends on what you do. Sometimes working in an office can be distracting and I know of plenty of people who are supposedly working in the office but are just wasting time.

What do you look for in a web design company?

"To be honest the first thing was location. I wanted a company I could visit easily so if anything did go pear-shaped I could just go kick their door down! Second was portfolio of work (actual sites, not just stills) and finally it was simply the vibe of the company. Visit their office, talk...

Charity Paying for reducing homeless problem

Ah, thanks. It all sounds a noble idea but maybe just a little too complicated.

Does anyone use LinkedIn for SEO?

Just catching up with these, thanks all.

What do you look for in a web design company?

For those that are interested in self-design there are programs such as http://website.1and1.co.uk/build-a-website-in-flash which seem simple enough. Has anyone tried to do it themselves either before or after paying a lot and not ending up happy with a professional company? If anyone could post...
