Hello!
I currently run my small business from a virtual office address in London. Unfortunately, this does not come with a telephone line.
My plan is to purchase a phone number tied to that area of London and then put that through one of the VOIP services such as https://www.vonage.co.uk/...
Hi Alan,
Thank you for your response, what a relief!
I am also a director of a technology company and this was simply to supplement my income. I expect I will still need to advise HMRC of my current self-employment and begin paying all my due NI contributions.
Just to clarify, the...
Hello!
I believe I registered for a UTR many years ago accidentally and never actually used it. Back in September 2016 I started working on a freelance basis for a company, working 2-3 days a week to supplement my income. I would invoice on a weekly basis and the company would pay the money...
Sorry I was not clear.
I understand the 10% is charged on the rental income exc VAT, however am I expected to add VAT on top of my 10%? Is this standard procedure for companies charging fees?
John, this makes pure sense.
So to confirm, I am able to charge the VAT on the 10% fee? When VAT registered of course. The landlord would claim the VAT back on purchases?
Thanks Newchodge.
Yes, I am aware what VAT is, however there is some confusion. Landlord receives £4000 exc VAT; for example let's say we take a 10% fee £400 exc VAT, we will be required to pay VAT on this, £80 to be exact. The landlord receives VAT on the £4000 rent (£800) and does not pass on...
This makes sense, can anyone else confirm?
Since they charge the total rental income as well as VAT, they would have a surplus VAT amount once our % fee is taken? i.e. They take £4800 inc VAT and we charge £400, they would have £800 for VAT when they only have £3600 left from the original...
If I register for VAT today and receive my details within 3 weeks am I able to backdate VAT payments, or do I simply lose the VAT on the previous deals?
Thanks,
Hi Newchodge,
Our ltd company is not VAT registered, however this is something I feel we should do since we are charging clients and there is a good chance we will hit the threshold this financial year. I would rather charge now, rather than lose the money.
Hi Scalloway,
So it would be £480...
Hi,
I am currently running a business where we charge a % commission fee to landlords based on the rental fee of property rented to our clients.
If we charge a 10% fee how would we charge the following client based on a 4 month rental agreement:
Client 1:
Charges £1000 per month exc VAT for...
I run an online business and I am due to send out our first invoice to a client.
Do we charge VAT or not?
We are no where near the UK VAT threshold, but may go over it in the next few months.
We are not VAT registered, so I am keen to know what we can do. If it makes us look larger I would...
Hi John,
You are spot on, I used this solution and it worked via Companies House's online Web Filing portal. They give you a basic breakdown of what financial figures they need and you simply input them.
Could not be easier.
Thanks for everyone's input.
Thank you both for your input.
Apologies for the rather bad way this thread was put together.
I think the key question wasn't how to put together the accounts, but if there was a way to do it faster if a business has had no significant transactions since incorporation and as of today.
Thanks! :)
