    Don't forget that white space also sells! e.g. Don't clutter it up! 'Wordy' leaflets/adverts switch me off everytime! I agree with the use of colour. It isn't usually any dearer anyway!

    Some products are perceived by customers to be cheaper than they actually are. Adding VAT either pushes the prices up or eats away the profits! Yes! VAT on ALL products from day one could be one answer .... but I'd prefer to think that an increase in the VAT threshold would work for the better...

    I'm just below the VAT threshold. To grow I'd need to VAT register. This means having to increase my turnover by nearly 10% this year just to stand still. My business would suffer badly with the VAT increase as well as affect my own income. A rise to £100,000 threshold would be of enormous help...

    Tell the cold caller you are registered with the TPS & that they are liable to a 'fine', they usually leave you alone .....???? ...... usually!!!

    I use leaflets to good effect! I get around 30,000 A5 full colour double-sided printed. I usually get an interest of around 1:100 or sometimes 1:50. Depending on product/service. I believe the usual conversion is near to 1:1000. If you offer money off etc on the leaflet, then expect to pay VAT...
