Walking through the highstreet today I saw:
Halifax
Nationwide
Lloyds TSB
Natwest
Barclays - Gave me a number
Santander - Gave me a number
Guess I need to do my research... if anyone knows that these take in branch applications and don't charge a fortune please let me know :)
I am not too far, I am in Weston Super Mare.
It is quite frustrating really - I just want to walk into a branch and open an account! :) I guess Barclays and Santander are the only ones offering free Business Banking at the moment?
Went into Barclays and Santander branches today, both sent me away with mobile phone numbers to get in touch with a business manager that would arrange to meet me... Seems like a lot of hassle... I had my lease, passport, business plan and everything else with me but they don't seem to be...
Sorry for posting another thread...
Basically I want to open a business bank account ASAP. I have a number of cheques I want to deposit for work I have done and just want to get things rolling.

Santander have asked me for the following;
* A letter from your accountant or solicitor confirming the nature of your business
but I don't have an accountant as I do all my own accounts... any suggestions?
I am wondering if I can just pay an accountant to do it for me as a one off...
I had over £600 in my paypal account when they limited it... it did indeed take 180 days but they paid me as they said they would. I think it is an awful way to treat customers by suddenly enforcing this upon them, however I guess if you are scammed when buying something you would be truly...
Bullet points are better than a script... Use bullet points to make sure you get points across but allow things to flow naturally. You can always tell people reading from a script and if you are reading in a script you don't know about the product, if you don't know about the product you don't...
For future reference (not that I am saying you have many bad debts or that you don't usually get paid on time - simply thought it might be of interest)
It depends on whether you are accounting on a bills delivered or cash received basis. I guess by reading your post you are accounting on an invoiced basis (seeing as you have paid the VAT). Therefore VAT becomes liable as soon as the invoice is raised. Sadly, if you do not get paid for 3 months...
