Thank you for your attempts here, I m now busy reading the Unfair Contract Terms legislation. It's early days to see if they end up acting in contradiction to what was offered, though the specification to which my boss signed was incredibly vague (their advantage I imagine).
My boss signed a contract 1 month before I started that included 9 cancellation clauses, but none in favour of the client (us) - they were all how the supplier can cancel.
The contract related to some digital services that were vague and generic. He still signed it and I accept that mistake. We...
I'd also question the move to Shopify - they've got great marketing but their new customer churn is huge (and they male 80% of the revenue as a kickback from Stripe processing payments).
Shopify does suit plenty but the costs go up quickly when you add apps.
Re : migration- it depends how...
Personally I'd be increasing my new business outreach with a view to dropping a client that acted like this.
You simply can't win.
- Give in, it works, they doubt you
- Give in, it doesn't work, you're right but they don't like you
- Walk away
Hey @Jess78 - you want to avoid monthly fees? But even with WordPress or opencast etc there are still monthly/annual hosting server fees - so you should factor these costs in anyway.
You will have to pay a small % in gateway fees with anyone - for example 1.4% with Stripe or 3.4% with paypal...
And I you knew much about DEO you’d know that yoast helps clients with about 15% of what SEO is, hardly identifying any issues that dodgy WooCommerce themes, poor product data construction and design can cause.
Close to Magento? Not a chance. One is for lazy people, the other is for highly...
Welcome to self employment then! It’s tough at times but always enjoyable. There's millions of self employed people already so you're not alone and forums/networking will always be important simply for soundboarding.
Drop me a PM and I can send you some links for further reading - ones that...
Hey :)
Welcome to the concept of Shopit! Your points about financial and infrastructure inefficiencies are exactly why ahopt was built the way it is. One database of all your products/events hen multiple front ends for each event/gig etc
All orders come into one place, one bank account/gateway...
Hi Dan
Look at your skill set first - what you’ve acquired, and what your desires are. It’s got to be something you enjoy.
Can you sell? Directly or indirectly?
Are you good with accounting figures?
Are you good at organising - project schedules and resourcing?
What excites you?
Once you’ve...
Kits or bundles is a standard feature in Shopit, in fact so is everything. Faster than Magento, easier to configure and manage, and you ONLY pay based on your usage - not fixed costs for limited features. Check out www.vimeo.com/shopit and take a look inside
Yes variations/variants should be basic feature sets - but the big players always want you to upgrade until you’re spending £200/mth for a standard set.
Can I recommend looking at www.vimeo.com/Shopit - their business model is to give customers EVERYTHING in functionality from day one, but only...
We build projects on Shopit - a faster, multi site orientated platform that’s easy to manage. Magento is powerful but slooooow, costs a fortune to maintain and is old school tech.
WooCommerce can be built to be powerful but is littered with bugs, is not directly supported by any one company, is...
Have a look at www.parcelstation.co.uk - they deal with ecommerce sellers shipping in the UK and globally. Their USP is that they 'buy' great rates from the big carriers en masse, so you get better prices using their network. Plus they do the whole pick up and traceability elements, before...
We've since moved very quickly to launch Shopit v4 which is a total re-imagining of the Ecommerce infrastructure.
Hosted on Google makes your website lightning fast, and a whole host of APIs means the data is more connected and accessible than ever before - Mailchimp, Sage, Google Shopping and...
