    Payroll question re: deductions

Thanks for all the replies. We have registered as an employer and got a PAYE reference but our accountant might have it as he registered on our behalf. Although I remember him saying it should be on the way. Will chase up. By the way, we outsource payroll so we just submit the hours and hourly...

    Flat Rate VAT Scheme

Sorry to hijack but I have a query with VAT. If a business can reclaim all VAT paid on stock purchases for retail sale AND charge VAT on the sale, then how does HMRC get their VAT from the transactions as surely the business has charged VAT from the customer but at the same time is also able to...

    Payroll question re: deductions

Hi, When a company pays staff on a PAYE basis, for example four weekly. There's the net pay figure that is paid to the staff, but what happens to the tax elements (NI etc) that have been deducted to derive the Net figure? How are they transferred to the government? Thanks

    VAT in Retail business

Hi, I just had a query which may be silly. For example: when a supplier states that there is a certain gross profit margin on a product assuming that the product is sold at the RRP, does this include the VAT that will be paid to HMRC or is the VAT percentage still to be deducted? Thanks

    Leasing premises to your Ltd

I understand what you mean, but in this case it's just a matter of starting up another one as it's a convenience store.

    Leasing premises to your Ltd

I just did some reading and it seems the only (obvious?) disadvantage would be short-term and that the rental income would be tied up in your pension fund which you can only access once you're 55 years of age. Thanks for the idea, I will do some more reading and ask our accountant. That's...

    Leasing premises to your Ltd

The last time we saw our accountant he said it's a good way of getting money out of the business too, so I guess we'll be doing it. He did mention the point about it having to be market rate.

    Leasing premises to your Ltd

Hi, We own a building that is currently being run as a retail business by a company and their lease is expiring and we have served a notice as we want to run the business ourselves and not renew their lease. Anyway, we will be incorporating but just wanted to know if it would be a good idea of...
