I spoke to AACS with regards to this exact same question almost. Basically they told me that there is no legal requirement for an employer to give you a P45, its purely a paperwork exercise (speaking as someone who is waiting for the same bit of paper)
Im going to pop the letter in the post today asking for the reasons below, after that I can see what happens. Will be interested to say if they terminated my contract. If they don't cite gross misconduct but they have informed third parties that they have, where the heck would I stand there...
