Instead of getting a qualification in digital marketing I'd suggest instead seeing if you can get a formal qualification in social media strategy. So many orgs believe they need to use social media but are feeling their way in the dark - i'dve thought someone with a very 'hot topic'...
Put some broad indicative costs on your website, so customers know the type of money they are going to be looking at. If they don't want to pay that money they wont contact you - gets rid of the 'tyre kickers'!

Use the Mailchimp analytics - its really helpful in fine tuning your emails to ensure the right people get the right messages, even analyise click throughs based on the position the link is in the email. Its all good stuff.
Generally trade shows can become expensive (cost of space, dressing your area, cost of staff there, hotel accommodation etc), having said that like others have mentioned here they can be a success for you.
However success starts along time before the show itself...

Agreed it depends on the sector you're in - but I'd say give it a go (what have you to loose) - just plan to have something more professional to fall back on as a fall back plan.
