Treatment of Purchased Software for tax purposes

I think If this software is old e.g. pre-2002 then it may affect how you can claim if in the tax return e.g. you may not be able to use amortisation in the tax calculation and therefore have to add it back, however you could elect to use it in your capital allowances calculation.

    Accounts filing software

Taxcalc is a good application, we use it for both our CT600 and SA100 Self Assessments, so I would have no hesitation to recommend them though we have never needed to contact their support team so cannot confirm how good they are. The CT600 does not really require and foreign currency postings...

    TradeUP.net – any reviews?

"investment trading" is a juxtaposition. In my opinion, If you want to invest you should look at legit businesses that allow you to invest in the stock market and provide accounts such as ISA, SIPPs etc., and If you want to trade, then my recommendation would be to also use the same companies...

Chrome Remote Desktop is free if you have gmail accounts. RealVNC is good. Otherwise as others have stated, set up a business VPN, some routers come with this functionality, then you can use free tools for remote screen sharing. If you are tech savvy then you could look at Rust Desk which is...

Capital depreciation and claiming tax relief back in buying Tesla outright through business

Just a different way to try and explain this if it helps: For corporation tax purposes, when you purchase your car, the purchase becomes an allowable expense only via capital allowances as HMRC controls the rates and therefore time span at which the values can be claimed back. In the case of...

Recommendations for domain & email hosting

We registered our domain with google initially but they have migrated this side of the business over to https://domains.squarespace.com/ To date, we have not had any service issues, we renewed the domain for 5 years last time just to reduce the amount of admin. Squarespace however does have a...

Which ticketing system do you use?

The last company I worked for had created their own ticketing system that imported emails as tickets and allowed emailing out, however since starting our own small business we did not have enough time to set up OSTicket which we had intended to use, but instead we use gmail for email cases and...

I was interested in the past, not so much now as I have been scammed multiple times. The first scam was when I tried to purchase mining hardware from a company called Butterfly Labs in 2014, and the hardware never turned up and eventually was given an option to either receive a refund or accept...

    Direct debits (Quickbooks Online)

We use Stripe to take card payments but do not use other features as most of our clients pay by bank transfer. Stripe do offer a recurring billing feature so worth comparing : https://stripe.com/ie/billing

Thinking of moving to C# and ASP.NET 8 instead of Python and JavaScript

Also depends on what platform you would run your apps on and what kind of libraries you would use. C# is Microsoft/ASP.NET, whilst C++ would be a good cross-platform alternative.
