Hey Girls and Boys, Been a while!
I'm at a point now where I'm looking at starting a new company.
There is a small amount of funding (50 -100k) + Possibilities of loans based off that..
I'm a little bored of the tech business's at the moment and wondered if anyone has any bright ideas or...
Hi.
Yeah inrevised all that and took all mortgage related out of it..
Bill's tend to be between 500 and 600 a month.
So worked it out to be about 60 quid.
Rounded down and decide I think 50 quid a month is well in the reasonable scale.
I mean. I have enough development servers and computers...
Right. Yah.
it seems that as long as im not trying to "make a profit" then it makes sense to charge the business.
"That means that the income received is equal to the costs and there is no personal profit on the rent. So you do not have to pay any income tax on the rent received, although the...
'So called finance and accounting sites also say'
The income received by the directors would only cover their costs and so this would to leave no personal income tax liability.
So this now leaves me super confused... was my accountant and all finance sites wrong?
For example...
That is an interesting response.
(Fyi I have had a paid accountant say to charge for my usage of the room.. they didn't say how much.. hence the thread)
Also many places say that it is not taxable because it's an expenditure that I am already paying. (Ie. The money covers the cost that the...
Thanks for the info.
I might up it slightly then.
I agree. I too would be shocked if hmrc got difficult about it even with a sound backing to the numbers.
Just trying to make sure it's not seen as excessive. (Even if it isnt)
Thanks again!
Graham
Thanks. Yeah this is why I figured it may be easier to calculate like so, so there isnt any mortgage involved in the calculations?
So without mortgage, I work it out to be about £500/600 a month.
say £550 / 7 rooms = £78 per room.
Lets say 80% usage for business.
= £62 per month..
Say...
Hmm maybe its even less as I shouldn't include the mortgage...?

Say £50/Month for ease..?
Hi Guys,
Been looking at a lot of site for info, but could do with some input from you guys.
I have an Office in my house (One of the bedrooms)
The house costs about £1400 a month (Mortgage, Elec, Internet, Council Tax, etc etc)
There are 4 bedrooms and 3 rooms downstairs (Kitchen, Living...
On top of that, what reaaaallly irks me is the form only states 12 months when filling it in online.
https://public-online.hmrc.gov.uk/lc/content/xfaforms/profiles/forms.html?contentRoot=repository:///Applications/IndirectTax/1.0/SDLT16BUD2910&template=SDLT16.xdp
Its like moving goalposts and...

No we got it about 10 days before the deadline because we couldnt get hold of the solicitors because the solicitor who dealt with our purchase left days after our house was sold.
It took us just under 3 months to get hold of them and that meant multiple trips in person! Phone calls and emails...
Yes, may have to do that if we get no where with HMRC. Unfortunately I know. rules is rules.
Not sure what complaining to the solicitor will do, not like its going to get our money back.
I suspect I will just have to reside to the fact that HMRC get to keep our money. :(
Yes, I suspect I do have a problem :(
Annoyingly they cant just make a call on things so close to the wire.
Whats super annoying is we would of got it to them sooner if our bloody solicitor didnt leave the company after our sale. It meant that all the calls, emails and chases we sent were...
Hi, Yes HMRC said they recieved it almost two weeks after the date we posted it.
Annoyingly the only evidence we have I guess would be the mark on the envolope by royal mail when they stamped it?
HRMC dont retain that so all they have to go on is that it arrived 3 days or so after the cut off...
Hi Guys, while not particular to business I was wondering if anyone had any insight or anything I can use to force HMRC to pay me back my higher rate stamp duty.
I bought a new home and then a about a year later sold my old one. I paid extra higher rate stamp duty on the new home because I...
