It is a common issue but judging from what you said about your credit history it may be ok for you.
One way to make it an issue for you though is to put in numerous simultaneous applications for different bank accounts! Just apply for one, from what you've said you should be accepted, but if...
The Airdrie Savings Bank does business accounts without credit checks but you have to go to Airdrie to sign up for one. They are the only bank in the UK that does this.
If you've already been turned down then whatever you do, do NOT just approach other banks as your chances of being successful diminish with every application. Instead, approach the Airdrie Savings Bank - they are a small bank and they offer a business account without a credit check - the only...
Banks differ but generally they require government ID (passport, photo driving license) and proof of address (utility bill) for each Director and signatory. They also usually request a copy of the Memorandum and Articles and the certificate of incorporation which are sent to you when you...
Should have its own account yes, but it's not a requirement and for many new businesses it's simply not that easy to get one in the first instance so temporarily using a personal account is the only option (eg if you live in Truro and cannot get to London or Airdrie easily!). Providing the...
Can't you just split the business? EG hive off the actual taking of photos at weddings bit into a different LTD to split the turnover between two LTDs with both under the threshold?
As an aside, when I got married there was nothing that infuriated me more than venues, vendors and suppliers...
I've gone through this mill before. Incorporating the company is the easy bit - it takes seconds, but never be persuaded to spend more money on incorporation fees on the basis of promised bank accounts - I've never heard of anyone getting a business bank account any easier through an...
Do you not have a friend who is a Chartered Accountant or solicitor? They may verify it for you in return for a pint! It's the same with certifying documents - accountants, solicitors and the like are asked to certify things by friends all the time.
Update - today I spoke to an advisor at Metro Bank. They were extremely helpful and much more honest and straightforward than Barclays and NatWest while also being much more efficient than Nationwide.
However... even though I was assured that credit checks are done by people and not by computer...
Also posted to the accountancy section as it seems to cross both areas...
Hi, apologies as I appreciate that this must be one of the most discussed topics on these boards but all the threads I could find are some years out of date and I was hoping that there may be some new information.

Hi, apologies as I appreciate that this must be one of the most discussed topics on these boards but all the threads I could find are some years out of date and I was hoping that there may be some new information.
I am currently in the process of setting up a not-for-profit company limited by...
Ironically, unbeknown to the finance department, my contract was to provide them with a friendly face to their principal funders.
"So why should we continue funding your organisation?"
"Well, to be honest, now my contract's ended, I wouldn't bother if I were you. Save the taxpayer some bucks"
I had a similar experience with a public sector quango which actively advises other public sector bodies that swift payment to small businesses is a necessity and should be a priority.
On the very day they released a publication praising a public sector body for paying all invoices within...
I think there's a practical question you need to discuss with your employee.
HMRC have frozen mileage rates at 40p per mile for several years - I used to claim that in 2003 when petrol was 73p per litre! The hidden cost for the employee is in the wear and tear and I very much doubt 40p per...
