Im looking at offering a service which will require 24x7 phone answering.
I will also require them to input the details onto my own job tracking software (web based) and depending on the job follow an escalation procedure.

To be honest this is typical of most cheap registrars. The margins are so thin on domains they cant afford to support you without losing money.

No not quite, The people they went with were £200 cheaper than my quote (roughly) at about £2.xx per shirt printed - £1k order. They then ordered from us at a realistic price hence their initial £1k was wasted.
