Someone has taken and using an existing business name.

To be honest I am unsure, but I will ask the question. As I said, he was seriously ill at some point in hospital, and other problems associated with that. Although a Ltd company, he wasn't using the Ltd in his advertising. I don't think you have to. What I have noticed though, is that the...

Someone has taken and using an existing business name.

Thanks Newchodge, I am not entirely sure of all the facts, however I did work with him inbetween the company being dissolved and the new company filing for registration, and to my knowledge he has worked continuously in that time. In addition he has been advertising with checkatrade since 2009

Someone has taken and using an existing business name.

Hi all, I am aware that there was a similar post to this earlier, however the circumstances are slightly different. An old business associate of mine, runs a small building firm and has been doing so for many years, and trading under the same name all that time. He was registered with...

    VAT receipt question

Hi all. I have just recently set up a Health and Safety Consultancy and Training company and registered for VAT. As I was going through my receipts and logging them in to my spreadsheet, I noticed that the VAT on the receipts didn't match my calculations. I'm not just talking about the odd...

How to go about a total change of business?

Hi all, I have been working in the construction industry for many years at a low level, self employed sole trader. I am now diversifying and training to be a health and Safety consultant/trainer. I have been paying for my training and associated expenses through my business account. In the very...

    Partnerships. Yes or No

Thanks for all the good points brought up, I appreciate the potential problems that could arise from going in to business with my Father in Law (namely my wife) However I feel he is less likely to "shaft" me, by doing so would be detrimental to his daughter. The main reason for bringing him in...

    Partnerships. Yes or No

Thanks Johnny, these points had crossed my mind, hence, as has been suggested forming a Ltd company, and having a proper contract written up.

So, you buy a kitchen and want someone to fit it for 500 quid do you?

I'm with @MASSEY and @roythehandyman I'm not going in to details, but, it depends on kitchen, design and so on. It's also regional, if you live in an area of lower cost of living, for example north east you wouldn't expect the same rate in the south east. I've also seen kitchens fitted for low...

    Partnerships. Yes or No

Hi all. I'm fairly new to this Forum, and am on a bit of a learning curve. I am in the process of forming an export company, with an in-law. I have been running my own business in the construction industry for the past 20 years, on a small scale I might add, and have never had a partner, just...
