    Restart Grant

I have today applied for the restart grant from the council. Hoping for the £8,000 for 'leisure' but might just get the £2,667 as we can open from 12th April , although we are not retail. Just don't want to over expect, as £8,000 seems generous.

More grants for those businesses with premises who are forced to close.

Yes I think so. I went on the council website and on there it says the grant is to cover the 44 days up to 31st March.

    Vaccinations, flaws in the system?

Hello Lucan, I booked both vaccinations at the same time as I think it wouldn't let me just book one. But it took me all day as one or other kept going 'no longer available'. Also the nearest centre (a local pharmacy) kept disappearing off the list, so I had to keep refreshing until it appeared...

Business Support Package for January Lockdown: 5 January 2021 onwards - LA guidance (publishing.service.gov.uk) I'm not sure if the link will work but it says £4000 one off grant + £2001 for the first 42 days of lockdown. So that ties in with what SteDurham received. I can only guess that as we...

Hi Ste, Yes many shops are closed. We are a dance school with premises in Acklam so we are closed also for now. I never go into the town centre, haven't for a number of years.

But the grants are based on rateable value, not on the type of business. SteDurham is the same band RV as us.

I wonder why the payments should vary as they are set by the government. Our business premises is in Middlesbrough.

Our council sent us an email with a link to a short application form that asked for the reference number from the previous grant (which I had to look up) along with our RV reference number. I have just checked and it has now gone in to our business bank! It is £6,239.21. I'm not sure how that...

Showing the grants on your books

We have kept the property grants and the SEISS grants separate, in our records. There might be a special place on the online tax return for them.

Not received but have applied last Thursday. Say should be paid within 7 to 14 days so we are checking the business bank account every day now. Also it didn't say how much it would be, but expecting £4,000 for our RV and maybe another £1,334 lockdown closure grant as well.

    New insurance ruling

We pay for insurance annually to our landlord but it's for building repairs only. It has no business interruption element.

What date is it for re-opening 2nd or 3rd?

Thank you Simon. Wish they would say something like 'lockdown from 5th -2nd inclusive' I've seen others advertising they are opening on 2nd but I had thought it was 3rd.
