Running laptop 24/7
Personally, I would recommend paying a small fee for a VPS, using your laptop can cause the battery to fail faster, overheating, generally not good for any tech to be on 24/7 and what if there's a power cut (no wifi)- Hostora

Alternative to Dropbox and Drive
Personally, I would recommend something like owncloud. All you need is a basic VPS server and you are able to do so much with it. Things like file sharing, email hosting, website hosting and much more. Let me know if you would like some help setting a owncloud server up!- Hostora
