Really? - seems the announcement was in Feb 2012 - http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/briefs/income-tax/brief0212.htm - or is this just for the P11d?
Recent information in this accounts software for instance also gives an "iPhone" as an example of something that must be listed as a Capital Asset and...
Any reason why I would want to artificially inflate my profit and pay additional tax? :) - Also it is the third year, not first.
I think I will list it as a "Computer Hardware" expense, thanks :)
The company in question has a turnover of around £30,000, an accountant recommended I depreciate everything purchased for the business that is over £100.
Do you think this is a bit overkill?
So can a limited company buy an iPad (or computer, desk) and claim the full cost of the item as an expense?
I thought more expensive items like this need to be logged as capital assets and depreciated every year?
I remember, back in 2007 anyway, smart phones were not considered phones at all, but rather as computers. You had to declare them as such and then claim 25% of the item cost every year.
I haven't kept up to date on this. Is this still the case?
The company in question is a limited company...
Going forward I will use an accountant for the technical bits and for filing in the future and I've bookmarked your firm :)
But my accounts are filed so that's not my problem right now. My problem right now is can anything be done to reduce or cancel the fine? - is this something you could...
Yes, same thing has happened to my other company - sure sure if this is a new practice or not.
Having received all the "iXBRL is now a requirement" letters and reading all the HMRC and Companies House joint filing system posts, I was under the impression that I have to use iXBRL and the new...
I switched to paperless, scanning and categorising everything and storing documents in dropbox as well as using FreeAgent for book keeping, VAT filing, invoicing, etc - it generates all the figures that I now input in the new joint HMRC & Companies House PDF.
It's quite a great system, but it...
I used accountants for 3 years and I spent an average of £2,000 a year on them both in charges as well as things that were done incorrectly. I've opened this new company to learn about accounts and see what I could do myself.
Things got out of control for a number of reasons including the new...
It was a £100 fine per month for 3 months for late filing - this is actually a new company I opened so it was the first year filing with that company, my other company is currently late filing for the same rasons and I hope to file this week.
How can you file online without using iXBRL -...
Yes, I was 8 months late by the end. I wanted to file back in March last year but after migrating to new accountancy software, the calculations didn't match up 100% to the spreadsheet and paper accounts so it took quite a significant time to scan and tag everything to ensure what I file is...
The annoying thing is I was already fined £300 by HMRC for submitting late and about a month after I submitted everything, Companies House now sent me the £1,500 fine! - seems unfair and unreasonable to be fined twice and for such large amounts when the delay is due to their sudden and extreme...
I was fined £1,500 for submitting my accounts late this year - this is more than the profit my small part time company makes :(
The reason I submitted my accounts late is the new iXBRL requirements that required me to completely change how I do accounts year to year. I have now moved to a...
Thanks, will do!
I have looked through the folder we picked up and I can find a P35 and P11D for myself and business partner (2 of us in the LTD). No payslips or a P60 :|
Not done the self assessment yet, but FreeAgent seems to show all the right figures, but I'll have them reviewed. Do...
