Just an update on this - not trying to hijack the thread - turns out I tempted fate.
PayPal are back again with another request. They want agreements with our suppliers, full accounts (not yet due at Companies House) and bank statements. This is because we've grown compared to last Jan...
Couriers are the bane of our life. I don't understand how their terms and conditions can get them off when they break / lose things. We know they have it, it gets lost, but the first £xxx isn't claimable etc.
We're now looking at moving as many deliveries as possible in house having gone...
Yes, that's exactly what we do. Point is that these things happen and when you're shipping thousands of large items per week then unfortunately there will always be the odd occasion when it happens. Courier companies require a certain length of time to investigate and search for items. If it...
I don't think domain names are typically worth the sort of money people think they are.
In terms of selling an e-commerce business, there are more experienced people than me but we had an offer from a venture capital firm for a minority stake of our business, and it was broadly 10x EBITDA, and...
Yes, we already accept payments by card through Shopify / Stripe and have done since we started. But approx one third of purchases are done with PayPal and it increases conversion so we're loathe to get rid of it.
PayPal did this to us. Business had grown rapidly, and they just couldn't understand it. They blocked us from withdrawing *any* money for approx 10 days during our busiest time of the year, which caused huge issues for our cash flow (the total ended up being approx £350,000 that they arbitrarily...
This sort of thing happens all the time - well done you for spotting it.
If necessary I would buy another identical box, re-print the label and package it up again so you can provide the "proof" they require.
As a business we send out a significant number of oversize parcels per month. There are very few decent couriers in that arena, I can tell you. So much so that we're now bringing as many deliveries as we can in house as this will save money due to the damage / losses encountered with DX, TNT...
All of this is going to translate into huge price rises for consumers (and shortages of stock).
We don't need to bring anything out of China until Q2 next year, which is good in terms of stock but bad in terms of cash flow - though if anything having the stock on hand will enable us to push...
We had a UK business for a couple of years and then set up an EU business in Q3 last year as it was either that or stop selling in the EU.
Would strongly recommend going down the separate EU business route (though of course it can be owned by the UK business if you so wish).
While it has caused other issues (cash flow and lack of storage space) we've been able to get containers out with not too many problems. And when you factor in currency movements that has helped offset some of the increased container costs.
We've now got enough stock to get us through the next...
I'd love to know the evidence behind the claim that "if you pay, you can remove bad reviews" - this is categorically not the case.
We have an "Excellent" rating but, like any business, get the odd bad review, most of which are an opportunity to learn from. We've had people leave multiple...
This will - unfortunately - be difficult. What sector is it? At this sort of price it's likely to appeal to someone who knows the business so might be a competitor.
