We sell men's clothing and our most common waist size is 34", with the quantities tailing off either side. However, it seems there's an ever increasing shift towards larger sizes, so we'd sell more XL than Small - a sign of the population's expanding waistline I guess.
We are merging our two locations (office and shop) into one location (office above shop). We currently have ADSL connections at both locations, but I'm looking into installing an EFM (Ethernet First Mile) leased line instead. This is because there will be twice the number of users that will now...
A limited company that appears to have just ceased trading has a shop unit that we are very interested in taking over. I'm not familiar with the process when a ltd co ceases trading - would it now be in the hands of an administrator or is that just if there are creditors owed money? Would that...
So every now and again we look for competitors that have pinched our images to use on their site (usually because they're ignorant of copyright law). We send them a polite message to take it down which usually works, or a not-so polite letter if they don't take it down along with getting their...
A lot of our customers over the last couple of weeks have been saying that they'll come back when they get paid (which should be happening around now for a lot of folks).
Of course, whether they will or not remains to be seen...
I think it's probably quite appropriate for the type of audience they serve and the type of products they sell. It's a young, cool, quirky kinda company and they play on that fact. They're selling fun things, not life insurance!
Another explanation might be that sellers are using ebay as a channel to clear dead stock. We use ebay in that way, selling at cost price or even a loss sometimes just to shift the odd line.
I've recently come to the same conclusion about carousels. Personally, I think if you have several products/offers you want to showcase and putting all of them on a home page would be too cluttered, then it might be better to display a random one on each load of the page. Then, each visitor...
When they were last posting in the thread at http://www.ukbusinessforums.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=304417 they were talking about their launch on Nov 1st.
Perhaps they can come back on here now and tell us how it's going and whether we should all be switching from ebay?
A lot of retail businesses started off as one man bands, as did I. You make wise decisions, work hard, employ your first member of staff and grow from there.
Get yourself a copy of E-Myth Revisited - it explains it much better than I ever could!
No as far as I can I'm including all variable costs like bank charges, packaging, etc. within the cost of goods sold, not just the value of the stock.
Wages would only increase if there was a significant increase in turnover so I'm classing those as fixed in this scenario.
Am I right in thinking that once break-even point has passed, the gross profit on any additional sales is equivalent to our net profit?
So if the break-even point is reached at 100k sales, the overall GP is 50% and the overall NP margin is 10%, then an additional 100k sales will add 50k to...
