I was 'aware' of them, I just didn't know how they worked in practice. I would regard myself as fairly financially savvy, I understand the basics.
I am in touch with an accountant, but I appreciate the tip :)
Thanks for the answers. Director loans seem to be the way to go for now. They will be relatively small sums as the business has very low startup capital needs.
Hi All,
I am in the process of starting my new business. I have registered the company at companies house, and it shall be dormant for the next 2-3 months whilst I get things in place.
Just curious though, in my first months of trading, I will probably have more expenses than income. If the...

I know a friend of mine managed to get hold of a list of Funeral Service provides in the UK, I want something similar to that, but for bookshops.
I am a former PHP developer (before turning to business), I would pay someone to do it rather then learning it all yourself. Your better turning your hand to your business development.
It takes years to learn to code properly, and then you have to think about all the maintenance and further...

The idea of LinkedIN is not to connect to as many people as possible. For example, a few threads on here, people kept saying...
Fair point Simon, but what job is really worth only £6.19 an hour?
In my view, the extra £1 p/h on a full time basis costs roughly around £40 extra p/w.... makes a small difference to me... but makes a massive difference to my employees.
I would much rather pay the extra £1 p/h and have them...
Just curious to hear opinions directly from other employers.
Would you pay the national living wage for all your jobs? We all know 6.19 is the current minimum wage.
Do any of you employ anyone for that wage? I did, and I Have decided in the last couple of months they both deserve 7.50 an hour...
Do you run a business? Just wondering as it should be obvious as to WHY they sell accessories over priced.
I used to work there. There average margin 5 years ago on a laptop was 10%. I am sure margins have been squeezed further since then. Sometimes as low as even 0 margin in sale. They HAVE...
I used to work for Dixon's (two years ago) the average margin on imaging accessories is 50%. However I do not think they will take your product on. They only sell recognized brand e.g lowerpro or there own brand products.
Makes no sense. You just said yourself you can't order from the factory because order quantity is to high.
So why would Joe bloogs from the rat race be able to?
