Hi,

As per companies house the status of my company is.

Next accounts made up to 31 March 2017
due by 31 December 2017

Last accounts made up to 31 March 2016

Also the company's status is dissolved on companieshouse website.

Here are the dates for company dissolved.

16 May 2017 Final Gazette dissolved via voluntary strike-off
28 Feb 2017 First Gazette notice for voluntary strike-off
21 Feb 2017 Application to strike the company off the register

I do have transactions between 01-April-2016 to 31-March-2017 but first we de-register the company from VAT when it was active and then apply for struck off and its been dissolved now.

Do I have to submit the accounts to HMRC or Companies house for the period of 01-April-2016 to 31-March-2017 as the company was trading during this period?

Please advise on this as my accountant is desperate to submit and pay his accounts fee?

Thanks

Hi MR D.

Yes he is saying that I have to submit the past accounts though the company was dissolved in May 2017. He is also saying that people might say you that you don't have to submit accounts but in reality you have to so he prepared accounts for dissolved company and email me asking his fee.

After reading everywhere I don't think I have to submit anything so confirming from you guys.

Thanks

He's talking sh1te.

A dissolved company is unable to file accounts. It's as simple as that.

If you instructed him to do the accounts or say had a rolling contract and did not inform him what was happening then just pay him his due's and tell him to not bother sending them off

Hi,

I have informed him in Dec 2016 that I am going to dissolved the company and then we de-registered from the VAT and dissolved it. Also I don't have any contract with him. Actually it was me asking him to prepare the accounts and he confirmed that I have to submit but after reading that is not true but he is doing because he needs his accounts fee.

He also lied when I asked him how are we going to submit during holidays on 31st-Dec-2017 then he said we will use some software and submit your accounts so again sh1te because all online access has been disabled once the company is dissolved.

thanks

Well below is what the HMRC website says about dissolving your company:

Final accounts

You must send final statutory accounts and a Company Tax Return to HMRC.
You don’t have to file final accounts with Companies House.
  1. Prepare your final accounts and company tax return.

  2. File your accounts and company tax return, stating that these are the final trading accounts and that the company will soon be dissolved.

  3. Pay all Corporation Tax and any other outstanding tax liabilities.

And over 6 months after company is dissolved?

The accounts and final CT return should have been prepared and submitted to HMRC before applying for Strike off.

Did you actually send a copy of the Strike Off form DS01 to HMRC as required, thereby giving HMRC opportunity to object to the Strike Off?

Agree with the previous posters that it is normal practice to prepare accounts for a dissolved company.

Thanks guys for your reply.

I only sent the DS01 form to companies house and not to HMRC but is it not implicit that once its gone from companies house then its also gone from HMRC?

Where is this mentioned on HMRC website?
"Agree with the previous posters that it is normal practice to prepare accounts for adissolved company."

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

People on below link are saying no accounts needed to submit to already dissolved company to HMRC but you guys are suggesting to submit. Why the information is contradictory? How can I confirm whether I have to submit or not?

www. accountingweb. co. uk / any-answers/do-dissolved-companies-need-a-tax-return#comment-633354

Should I call to HMRC and ask them directly?

thanks
