How to get a Commendation for my Legendary Poker Book

Basically, I have mapped out the way we think through poker decisions. When this task was complete I realised that I had inadvertently found the way to think through all strategic decisions. I think I might have the perfect decision theory model which I describe in what could be the greatest strategy book of all time.

But I've been locked in a basement for half a decade. I want to pass my book around and see what experts in different fields think of my theories but I don't know where to find them. And so I was hoping you guys might help?

I need Economists, Business analysts, phycologists, mathematicians, game theorists, sports coaches etc etc. I need these guys to read the book and to give me feedback. If they are qualified enough , then I would love to get a commendation.

Don't suppose you guys have any advice? Or, does anybody think they can give me feedback?

I can send a pre-release version of the book straight away. We hope to have it in the shops in coming weeks.

Yeah of course, I've won hundreds of thousands playing poker. And I guess I've made around 5 million Poker decisions as a pro-player.

I use an old style, what I have done in the poker world is develop our understanding of it. I have made something of a name for myself on the famous 2+2 poker forums.

Now that I fully understand how to use this 'style', I can see it literally everywhere.

When I looked at the quotes in 'The Art of War' I was instantly able to consider it within this universal strategic formula, and I was instantly able to see how I'd defeat him. You can see his mistakes.

I looked up decision theory and the formula's I found were very similar to mine, but they were all missing big pieces of the puzzle... I do have very little to go on though. I don't know anything but Poker really.

On a serious note - why not try approaching some of these people directly? Many of them publish blogs and websites, such as Michael Shackleford, aka The Wizard of Odds.

Yeah I have been messaging the ones I can find directly, I will try that guy you mentioned too. But this is a slow process and nobody is getting back to me.

It is quite an interesting book, I don't think many experts in those fields would mind having a read. It's just getting the message to them that is my real problem. So any more suggestions of people or groups I could contact will go down a treat!

Keep in mind that they probably get a lot of these requests, so you will need to convince them that yours is different from the others. I suggest you give them some bullet pointed specifics on your system. You have a few seconds to get their attention with your first email, so make it good.

I am an economist BTW and have worked for the EIU and I hope it does not surprise you to hear that there are hundreds of books that make similar claims for their authors!

I'm definitely not the expert you're looking for but I have written a couple of books (and I'm currently working on a 3rd). I'm curious about your strategy (not to play, but certainly in a business context) and would be happy to read it and send you some feedback.

I used to play alot of poker (to the point where I actually stopped enjoying it) so would be happy to read and review. Are you publishing on Kindle? You need to get it on Amazon and then offer it for free and then start spreading the word.

You could also re-purpose the content as a course. The key thing is credibility, you must be able to demonstrate you have successfully applied these techniques and show your results. Whats your username on twoplustwo?

If this is the case, then you will also help yourself believed by getting a well respected accounting firm to provide a statement to confirm you have indeed won this amount of money following your system.

Don't just get "Joe Bloggs Accountancy", get a firm that people will have heard of, or if anyone does research them, they will see the firm are well respected in their area. For example, there is a firm of accountants (Knill James) in my town who, although probably a lot of people outside of Sussex have never heard of, has been going for 125 years and handles accounts into the hundreds of millions.

I believe if a publisher accepts the work, they will handle all the testimonials, etc. (That is if you are using a traditional publisher, not looking to self-publish.)

Poker players nowadays record all their hands so proving my profits isn't a problem. My winnings are impressive, but I didn't have time to make millions so that's not my main selling point. I always concentrated on theory and helped teach at my brothers poker school. He had around 100 players at one point.

There is only really one publishing company that has monopolised the poker world and they think the market is dead. They are about to release their last book. The owner of that publishing company owns the poker forums too. I have briefly spoken to him about my book but he's not interested.

I'm basically going to have to sell this myself, but I do have a history in retail management and I am something of a strategist. I think I will do ok publishing this once I have a product. But I need to know what I really have here. Can I sell this book to businessmen? How much would this kind of person take from the book?

So, you have made hundreds of thousand and dollars bu did not have time to make millions. But do not have the money to publish the book. Now you have devised your theory and written the book play more poker and you can self-fund your publication and of course when people see you winning millions this will be the ultimate endorsement of your theory.

FYI, its not too difficult to use google....your profile says company name "ZeroPlusOne Publishing", anyone googling it will find your crowdfunder page in the number 1 position, so it's not too difficult to find information if you look for it.

Why would I not teach my theory!


To be completely honest I feel really bad for taking so much money off people who thought they could beat me...Poker is quite a stressful profession at the best of times, and after three years or so playing full time I decided to concentrate on teaching instead. That way I get to help out the weaker players.


Funnily enough I have learnt loads since then.

... Poker isn't a quick fix for cash, it takes time to make money like it would in any profession. I spent most of that money while I was making it, and I spent the rest while I was writing this book. It would take me years to make millions at the tables, and it'll only take a matter of days to find an expert in a different field who can assess my strategic theory.

Thanks for your posts guys! Still searching for that expert though, if any of you can think of anyone who might be able to assess this please do put me in touch with them.
