ICO – be data aware
In the data-driven world that we live, it’s more important than ever to know who is using people’s personal data, and why.
On 8 May, the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) launched the ‘Be Data Aware’ campaign which will help people understand how organisations might be using their data to target them online and, also, how people can have control over who’s targeting them. This includes understanding how people use your data to target you with social media adverts.
FB Messanger improvements
At F8, the notorious social network Facebook announced a series of Messenger-related improvements and business tools designed to generate leads, book appointments and more. For further details on what’s been discussed at F8 click here.
Instagram & YouTube on the rise?
For those of you interested in understanding how marketers are using social media to grow their business, we are happy to inform you that Social Media Examiner’s 2019 Social Media Marketing Industry Report is out and it’s revealing some very interesting statistics and trends.
Facebook and Messenger bots are losing the interest of marketers. Twitter is declining, whilst Instagram is getting hot and, also, YouTube is increasing in interest. Don’t get me wrong, Facebook still remains the most popular social media platform for marketers (94%). However, there is a clear indication that marketers are diversifying away from it.
Instagram’s popularity in 2018 was 66% growing to 73% in 2019, however, Twitter fell from 62% to 59%. So, if you are the bod in charge of marketing for your company (or the CEO), you should care about social marketing trends, you will want to get your hands on the information in this 46-page free report. You can download it here.
Since Instagram is growing in popularity with marketers, we should tell you that the platform announced creators will be able to link to products in posts which users can shop for without leaving the app. It’s pretty simple. As a creator, you’ll be able to tag products in your posts from businesses that are part of Instagram checkout. Nevertheless, in order for businesses to be eligible to have their products tagged, they need to be part of Instagram’s checkout beta.
