    Hey,

We're thinking of introducing a regular member profile as part of the UK Business Forums editorial content. The idea would be to provide insight into active members of the community, what their business does, how they got started, what their fondest memory of the site is etc.

The first question is; do you think it's a good idea? After that, who should we start with?

    Thanks,

    Chris

I think it's a good idea, it's always interesting to learn how people started out and what steps they took to grow.

Might be fun. But not if it's gong to end up in the unloved 'UKBF Content' column.

It's definitely a good idea. It would definitely help encourage user activity and might give smaller companies some exposure.

Sounds a reasonable idea to me. Brings some of the regular offenders here out of the shadows and makes them real people. I bet some of us are alright, on a good day!!!

May I suggest that it be limited to full members

It shouldn't be too hard to implement. It seems there's less than 20 members and less than 10 are active.

Try 200,000 registered members and a lot more than 10 active throughout the day. In the days of the old proper forum there were often more than 50 members active at any time.

    Sounds good.

But how many are duplicate accounts, old accounts where the poster has asked a question and never returned etc?

Now there's a thing. When the forum upgraded @Dan Izzard said he was going to clean up the members list but I don't think it never happened (along with many other things). The forum is full of hopeful new members who posted and never returned or returned didn't like the advice and never came back again.

If anyone here reads Private Eye then @ChrisGoodfellow might have the Me and My Spoon type interview in mind. I'd read that

Maybe overinflating member numbers is good for advertising revenue.

@ChrisGoodfellow , good idea. Do bear in mind that many members are anonymous here and like to keep that anonymity.

Have you thought of doing it in a video format via Skype or Google hangouts? It get peoples personalities over better than a written piece.

Nooooo! I sound like a strangled rhino and look like a walmart reject. A video of me is likely to put people off for life.

What is it you people have to hide . Its silly !
I say all sorts of things on here and you still phone for quotes . You could be doing yourself out of good contacts by hiding away

I haven't been on here for quite a while, but although I notice no positive change or improvements, can you confirm @ChrisGoodfellow that all the other changes to the site have now been made, now you have time to think about new ideas to implement?

I'm sure there was something similar suggested a few years ago, but never happened.
