When you import goods from a factory in China, generally speaking, do you prefer a big factory or a small factory?

its better to go for a big company. they can offer you better deals and also they shall probably have the creditability.

there are many issues im sure with dealing with any country not just china. but china do have a habit of being a bit condesending when talking to you. they tend not to move on price,MOQ and their shipping is always well above the true costs available from ups,dhl ex.
they are also not exactly in a hurry to ship orders out for new clients.
I think their attitude is: you come to us cos we cheaper than western world so you pay now what we say or you have no business.

example: i asked for a sample iphone case and ipad case. iphone case was 0.60usd and the ipad case was 2usd (these were free samples) shipping was 0.5kg dhl at 50usd. i questioned this and they said that they had just spoken to dhl and the cost was now 30usd (1 min later, haha) i checked my dhl shipping file and it should have been 9usd for 250g( the true weight)
i would rather pay a bit more and get stuff off fleabay:D

Big company follow rules, small company may not reliable.

If you look for long term relationship, go for big company. But prepare for large opening order. If you just want to quickily turnaround some profit off fashioable items, then small company is more flexible in term of MOQ, customisation etc.

I'm having problems with big companies, when you ask them for a quote on small orders, they either ignore you or put the price up by 100%??? whats all that about. It's really hard findin suppliers in China, not as easy as I thought, especially for a start up business and I can't afford to go to a sourcing company/agent as they want 200-300USD per day :( All i want them to do is check the companies out and i'm having to pay nearly £200 per company, not on. It would be cheaper for me to go to china :D but with kids and prior engagements its not possible. Catch 22

Size of company is irrelevant! Can they offer you a good service and provide your requirements? That`s what matters.

I would choose big company. From my part of view, big company are more reliabe. You can find many good chinese suppliers from B2B forum, such as alibaba.
