Hi,

I am currently getting business cards designed and it got me thinking...what email address should I put on them?

I could have [email protected]

or [email protected]
[email protected]

...etc.

Should I have the 'my name' email address on the business cards as they are usually given to people that you have built a bit or rapport with and so it would give them a personal touch, and then have [email protected] on the letters and website?

BTW what do you think of [email protected]? Too many hello's ?

Thanks
Jonny

Hello, hello, hello... lol.

I think on your business cards you should have your email address. On the website I would have info@ or enquiries@ as a more general contact.

Business cards are generally handed out when you meet someone face to face so it has the personal touch.

Hope this helps.

Regards

Matt

I'd always have the personal address of the person named on the card.

The info@ etc you can leave to the website, stationery and any other marketing paraphernalia.

The hello@ is ok and would work fine instead of 'info' or used for something else on your site.

yes that's what I thought. Thanks.

Also, I have an 0845 number for my business which gets answered by a virtual pa, but what should I use one the business cards? The 0845 or my mobile number. I think mobile looks a bit ameteur. But then again it is my personal business card so the client would surely expect me to answer the phone?

    Thanks

I'd go with both. I do. Looks perfectly professional. Mobile alone wouldn't.

Putting your mobile at all also depends if you do or don't mind direct contact ....at any time.

    Finally... Your website currently states:

"Hello Advertising is a new and innovative company which provides advertising solution for business that want to target the student market."

You might want to add an 's' to solution ;)

Nothing more offputting to a potential customer than a design house that can't even proof read it's own copy properly.

ps. I'd probably be looking to drop the 'new' once your site goes live.

Yes I think I will put just the 0845 on website and all other business stationary like letters etc.

There is something about mobile on the business card, even with the 0845, that I don't like. I think it still makes me look small. Maybe I'm wrong...as I said I'm new to business.

But also if I give my card to 500 people, I may be inundated with calls to my mobile (I only have one mobile, not a business one and a personal one). Even if 10% of those people that get the business card call me thats still 50 people that may be regularly calling to talk about it to ask questions, or to sort out payment etc. But maybe thats a sacrifice i need to make?

I guess it's better for these potential clients to be able to talk directly to me when they phone rather then talk to my PA and then me phone them back. And I guess the 0845 is more of an image thing than something that I need.

    What do you think?

As I said, I think a mobile with an office number is perfectly acceptable. It's quite the norm in today's age.

It's a mobile on its own that makes you look small.

And I wouldn't worry about being called frequently ...unless you're a builder or sell double glazing or something ;) Shouldn't happen too much.

ps. feel free to thank me officially if you like ;)

Why wouldn't you want people to talk to you ;) you want to build a business and the more people who contact you the better - and if you give out 500 business cards I would be surprised if 50 contacted you - unless your market research is so impressive that those 500 people are your core target market and all wanting your business and are sitting waiting for you... :)

give people every opportunity to contact you - mobile / fax / phone / email / carrier pigeon - if they might do business - take their call!

Just echoing Mike here but I'd use your personal e-mail address on the business card, the 0845 number on the business card and then also add your website and your mobile if you want.

Just the mobile alone gives the impression that the business is small or doesn't intend to hang around for very long.

With the mobile, I'd think about getting a second SIM or cheap phone and then you can keep business and personal separate. It is a nice feeling to know that when your mobile goes off at 10pm on a Saturday that it's a friend and not a client.

I'd go for [email protected] and the 0845 number on the business card.

Also, possible as an aside, I've always found it impressive if someone can actually pull out a pen and write something neatly on pre-printed material. So for example you could have business cards with just the 0845 number and for selected customers you could pull out a pen and say, "if you want to contact me directly, here's my mobile number"

Yes I do although I suppose it might depend what type of business it is.

Printed and web presentation is much easier now than it used to be. I remember when a printed letterhead was something, now they're just done on a printer. So if I see someone can write with a pen, it seems more individual and personalised. Assuming it's written on his business card and not the back of an envelope of course.
