Who would benefit most from your solution?

Define the problem you can solve, then go find people who you think would most benefit and ask them what they think.

    Who said business was difficult?

Does the problem have to be difficult? Does it even have to be a problem?

If it is an easy problem to solve then it becomes a commodity. If it's not a problem that needs to be solved then they don't need you.

I'm working in a very competitive industry at the moment so I know where you're coming from.

The rules are the same though. You just need to position yourself as the best one to solve the problem and only go to those who would MOST BENEFIT...leave all the others to your 'competitive' competitors to chase down.

I see what you're saying but.....who would MOST BENEFIT from the solution you supply.

I suspect you should appeal to people who would 'like more money but have a problem with..............'

It is very unlikely that your solution would apply to everyone who wants more money, only those who are [in this situation]....so what is 'this situation?] find out what that is and business will be easy to find.

    No...not everyone wants this.

    And therein lies the problem.

I'm a marketing consultant. If I couldn't generate 10 times more work than I needed if required, I wouldn't be very good at my job.

Thinking of products in terms of "solving problems" is wrong. What problem did the million dollar homepage solve? Some things happen for no reason at all. The value of a product is how much people are willing to pay. I can sell my farts for $1000 apiece, if people will buy them that's their value. And then I'll give interviews on BBC on my thought process for creating the product and the amazing innovation it provides.

The million dollar homepage solved a perceived problem...[lack of traffic to a particular website]

The fact it didn't work is neither here nor there.

The 'problem' it was perceived to be solving was...that the people who paid to be on there thought it would drive traffic to their websites.

In it's day it was novel and seemed like it might solve the problem.

As for the farts 'thing'.....I'll have a think about that and come back to you.

Maybe...'a pet fart' in a jar....easy to look after???? solves the problem of lonely lunatics??
