Website Traffic

I have just started an online business and really need help on getting traffic to my website. The market that I am in is extremely competitive and therefore ppc advertising is not a viable option.

That's a question with a lot of answers

Personally I like to take advantage of the free advertising you can gain from Google if you have a site that Google likes. To make Google like your site you need to have lots of links from other sites pointing to yours and you need to have lots of content with words in it that people are typing into Google.

There can be a wide range of factors affecting your ability to rank well, not just where you get yourself listed.

A well optimised page, written to HTML standards and employing "ethical" higher ranking techniques will tend to do better.

Hi mustang,

Start by finding some (free) relevant directories and add yourself to them as well as to dmoz.org.

It canbe a lot of effort but will pay off. Just set aside an hour or 3 (whatever you can spare) every week to finding directoris and submitting your site.

There are quite a few people here involved in SEO. Find an affordable one with a few good references, follow up the references and see what they can do for you. It could be money well spent.
