    Hello all,

I currently have a Limited Company set-up (recruitment business) and am NOT registered for VAT at present. I need to invoice my client now and breakdown the VAT on this invoice too.

My question is, for my client to be able to claim back VAT, am I right in saying my company will need to be registered for VAT (i.e. have a VAT registration no.)?

Any guidance is gratefuly received :)

    Thanks

You cannot charge vat until you have registered for vat. Vat reg is taking some time and there are guidlelines about what to do whilst your application is being processed.

You accountant should be able to advise on this as will as help with registration / advice on schemes available.

I love it. . . Ancient African saying which I just made up. . .If you don't look down, you will trip, slip or otherwise prang. . .I'm guessing you are joking and already sent Elaine a PM?

    Hi Itality,

If you need a good accountant that deals specifically with SMEs, then let me have your postcode and I'll see if we have anyone in our network that is near you.

It's Stephen Knapp who you'd need to talk to. They're very good and reasonably priced too. By all means feel free to PM me your contact details and I'll get him to call you - saves you doing the calling!
